OKC Steamroll The Kobeless LA Lakers (118-78)

Updated: December 19, 2015

The Thunder were coming off a tough loss to the Cleveland Cavs the other night and were looking to bounce back. Kobe Bryant was a game time decision and didn’t play tonight. The Thunder took advantage of the fact that Kobe wasn’t going to play and made sure they made it tough on the rookie and Randell.  Durant and Westbrook combined for 35 points and were doing anything they wanted on the floor. Durant has showed he’s back and even put Julius Randell on skates with a crazy crossover for the layup. The Thunder were up by 30 points for the majority of the game and were in cruise control to the point almost every Thunder player played.

The Thunder were able to set the tone in the paint with 56 rebounds and they also were able to get everyone involved. The Lakers scored 41 points in the first half which was the 6th lowest in Lakers history. There was nothing the Lakers could do tonight to stop the bleeding as Westbrook had a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists. KD had 22 points and was on fire tonight as the Thunder were able to gel together before their road trip.

Kobe was able to talk to the media after the game about his injury and also talk about his time with KD.

The Thunder will be in LA facing the Clippers on Monday and will be facing the Lakers again on Wednesday. Thunder have always played chippy against the Clippers and will have something to prove to them in LA. The Clippers want to prove that they’re still a title contender and that they have what it takes. KD and Russ have to continue to get in the groove of the game early and attack to get the Clippers on their heels. Should be a great coaching matchup too Doc Rivers vs Billy Donovan as they will try to plan against each other. Lets see if Billy Donovan pulls out the Hack A Jordan.
