Updated: October 10, 2015

What everyone wanted to see in Oklahoma was how Kevin Durant would play with Russell. They also wanted to know how the team would look under head coach Billy Donovan. Well those questions were answered on Friday night as the Thunder were locked in on Fenerbahce and didn’t look back. Kevin Durant made his first basket on a serious step back jumper that had the defender no where near him. He followed that marvelous play up with a poster dunk that was with authority to let people know that he was back. The Thunder were in cruise control all night as they seemed to be playing against the Turkey team with ease. This is a great way for the team to build chemistry and try to take that next leap. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 29 points out of the 111. Six of the Thunder players were in double figures and the player that left his mark on the game was Dion Waiters. Waiters has looked really good in the preseason and has been defending the perimeter really well. Coach Billy Donovan said “The team played unselfish” that is definitely the key to tonights game as everyone was sharing the ball.

The great thing is Kevin Durant is looking like a true MVP out on the court and looks like he hasn’t missed a beat since February. The Thunder team is looking really well in the preseason and this is helping with learning the Donovan execution on both ends of the floor. With the growth in Dion Waiters game anything is possible and he could be a 6th man candidate if he keeps this play up for the season.  Russell Westbrook hit the nail right on the head when talking about the crowd energy and how they packed out the Chesapeake Energy Arena because of the anticipation of this team. People will say this squad is title or bust but this team healthy can defend and play with the best of them.
