“Seven years – still I find…it was just a waste of time!”

(from “Seven Years” – written by Curtis Mayfield)

PHILADELPHIA (BASN) This Wednesday, July 29 – will represent seven years since Congress apologized for slavery. Steve Cohen, a representative whose district in Tennessee covers Memphis, was front and center on this (in large part because his seat was in jeopardy) – the resolution was carried on C-SPAN and you would think the most important story in say, oh, 150 years would’ve been everywhere – but no…

None of the political parasites who would preen and harumph in front of the cameras and microphones were nowhere to be found to speak on this and take credit for it, of course – likely because of the fear that REPARATIONS would be the next question out of any worthwhile reporter’s mouth…so of course, liberals and conservatives alike wouldn’t speak on it!

Every politician and news person in this so-called ‘mainstream media’ already knows this. while such an item should’ve been on the front pages of all the bastions of liberal thought (NY Times, Washington Post, Air America) – it was nowhere to be found; and they didn’t say or do a muthafuckin’ thing.

Rush Limbaugh’s punk azz brought this up before anyone on the liberal side…and I saw Tom Joyner’s fake azz Coon it up in front of a national audience during a broadcast filmed at Texas Southern University; where after a young Black man asked a question re reparations, Joyner, sitting on a panel with assorted ‘smart Black folks’ and MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews, rather than generate a discourse which would include free education, said instead:

“Awwwwwwwwwww, mannnnn – we ain’t gittin’ no 40 acres and a muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuullleee” – fucking disgusting!

Not one of the smart Black folks on the stage took Joyner to task for his stupidity (‘tho i’m sure some thought he was smart because he didn’t jeopardize angering his sponsors) and the rest of the event was a study in mental masturbation!

So now that Black Lives do or don’t matter (I’d suggest reading the Three – Fifths’ Compromise on that one), we’ll see just how much attention this gets. I have consistently mentioned this several times over the past six – plus years via my radio show Soul Tree Radio – in the Raw!! and the Black Athlete Sports Network (BASN) – with no backup.

Aside from possibly the Atlanta Black Star, no Black paper has done a muthafuckin’ thing in pressing forth any continuous discourse re this…

I have looked dead in the eyes of representatives for a company (Wachovia Bank) which, during an interview i was part of, admitted that they did profit from slavery; and they looked dead back at me and said (nicely) that Black people – ain’t gettin’ a muthafuckin’ dime.

Reparations to too many guilty consciences – means writing one big azz check; but the bigger check to cash is the emotional one of ignoring propaganda to “get over it” because “it happened sooooooooooo long ago” –

So in a climate where a White girl under the influence of extreme “affluenza” warrants a “stern talking to and no phone privileges for 24 hours” – where a White punk kid can murder a bunch of Black people (and successfully execute a state senator) and be rewarded with a police escort as he gets a Whopper from Burger King; while Black men, women and children are murdered for everything from sleeping on a couch to playing outside to being snuffed out for Driving While Black?

If Black lives mattered that much, the so – called apology for slavery should have meant more to the Black co – sponsors in getting the word out and making this a national issue to confront and handle; rather than a ‘Gentlemen’s Agreement’ to say nothing and hope this would be just another day at the office.

Guess that sense of purpose happened sooooooooooooooooooooo long ago – and I should just get over it.

I would never tell any Jew, Nisei, Native American or native Hawai’ian to ever forget atrocities done to their people; so don’t EVER suggest to me – that I should.

Seven fuckin’ years. like my man said in the flick, “THEY’RE HERE ALREADY…YOU’RE NEXT!

you’re next…

“Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.”

United States Constitution, Article 1, Section 2, Paragraph 3

always outnumbered…never outgunned.
