Russell Westbrook For MVP!! Why Not?

Russell Westbrook coming into this game against the Sixers was coming off the surgery on his cheek bone that he suffered against Portland. Russell Westbrook had to sit out the game in LA when his team took care of the Lakers with the help of DJ Augustin and Dion Waiters plus Serge Ibaka. The Sixers seemed to be on top of their game against the Thunder on Wednesday night in Chesapeake Arena. The Sixers forced the game into overtime and showed true fight as Isiah Canaan and Jason Richardson combined for 60 of Philly’s 118 points and came up huge down the stretch. Jason Richardson showed that he still has game and was carrying the Sixers down the stretch in crunch time even hitting a 3 pointer that forced overtime. With all that said and done the night belonged to Russell Westbrook he played out of his mind with the mask and could not be stopped. Russell had recorded his 4th straight triple double in a row only second to Michael Jordan in 1989. Russ had 49 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. Sixers coach Brett Brown was asked how to stop Russell Westbrook in the video below.

Russell Westbrook spoke about his big night and was able to shed light on playing with the mask and also how much it meant to hear to hear the MVP Chants. Russell has willed his team to victory as of late and has been on a mission since KD has been out. Russell Westbrook is averaging a triple double since the All Star break and is making his claim for MVP.

The Thunder will play the Bulls on today and Russell Westbrook will try to go for that 5th triple double.
