Thunder Acquire Dion Waiters From Cavs In Three Team Trade

Updated: January 6, 2015

The Thunder have officially announced that Dion Waiters has joined the team via trade yesterday night. The Thunder traded Lance Thomas and a potential first round pick to get Dion Waiters from the Cavs. Dion Waiters averaged 14 points in his very short stint in the league and has shown promise at times. What the Thunder are getting is a hungry player that wants to just prove to everyone that he can make things happen if given the moment. Waiters can be that 3rd scorer that the Thunder are lacking in the playoffs to push them to the next round and maybe to get them back to that NBA Finals appearance that everyone wants to see. Waiters brings that east coast mentality to the Thunder that they lack off the bench meaning he will give you the 1 on 1 moments but still can create for you. With the addition of Dion Waiters and not losing any players this is clearly one of the best trades they have done in a long time. Sam Presti has done a great job of making a big splash when needed and he did just that with grabbing Waiters from the Cavs in this 3 team deal. In the deal the Cavs received JR Smith and Iman Shumpert from the Knicks and the Knicks received Lance Thomas and cash.

The Thunder are trying to make those moves to make it to the promise land and they are rumored to be trying to get Brook Lopez from the Nets in exchange for Kendrick Perkins and Perry Jones III. We will see what happens as the NBA trading season is now open and this means that no one is safe at all.
