Russell Westbrook’s Monster Night Propels The Thunder To Victory

Updated: January 17, 2015

The Thunder are coming off a loss to the Houston Rockets where they came out flat but the good thing about the NBA is that you live to play another day. The bad that was once there that you want to turn good can automatically happen with the 82 game season. The Thunder had no better way to bounce back then to actually get motivated enough to play against the NBA’s best team the Golden State Warriors.  The Thunder came out on fire and were clicking on all cylinders as they were going back and forth trying to lock down Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson the best that they could. The Thunder and Warriors know each other very well and they know what to expect out of each other in these tough games.

Russell Westbrook came out in this game on a mission and in my humble opinion should be in the top running for MVP in the league this season. The numbers that he put up against the Warriors 17 points, 17 assists, 15 rebounds were truly sensational from Westbrook and it looks like he is the motor that keeps the car going sometimes. Dion Waiters said ” Russ is an animal and he plays like a created player” when you have people talking about you like that it means your the real deal. Kevin Durant poured in 36 points with 9 rebounds and when the both of these guys are playing like this the Thunder are unstoppable. The production that the Thunder got tonight from their role players was very impressive as Waiters and Ibaka combined for 48 points. Oklahoma City will go as far as the role players and the bench players take them when KD and Russ are playing like that.

The Thunder have to keep this chemistry going as they are going to be on the road for the next week and the first stop is in Orlando. The Thunder will need to execute at every phase of the game and try to make sure that they keep attacking the defense and also they have to get stops.
