The Celtics Beat Nuggets In A Seesaw Battle (106 – 98)

Updated: December 6, 2013

The Celtics took advantage of this national televised game and started the game on a 14-0 run and it seems that they were going to be on pace to rolling over the Denver Nuggets. The Celtics were shooting above 60% in the first half and were clicking on all cylinders from the field as they scored 39 first quarter points and only gave up 15 from the Nuggets. The Celtics defense was on really good until the 3rd quarter when they let the Nuggets come out of the locker room and get on a tear as they scored 30 points in the 3rd quarter making it a 10 point game going into the the 4th quarter.  The Celtics hold the Nuggets to 21 points in the 4th quarter and were attacking to the basket the whole time forcing the ref’s to blow the whistle. Jeff Green was attacking and was making sure the Celtics didn’t lose this one pouring in 15 points in the game when it mattered.

Kris Humphries had a season high of 18 points and 5 rebounds but it seemed like Humphries was in the right place at the right time all night. Humphries was spacing out the floor and drawing the power forwards and centers to him to open up for his teammates to get wide open baskets or layups. Humphries kept the Celtics in the game in the 3rd quarter and didn’t let the Nuggets take full control. Avery Bradley has been showing a lot of improvement in his jump shot scoring 18 points on 8-10 shooting from the field. The way he has been playing as of late there is no question that he is one of the leaders on this ball club from his penetration and defensive stands all the way to leadership in the locker room. Jordan Crawford has been the most consistent Celtic player as of late. His stat line has become a regular as he had 22 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. It looks like Crawford is flirting with a triple double often lately which is very important because, when Rondo comes back he will have to make sure he does like he did to the Nuggets all over again to teams but, as the 6th man.

The Celtics have been clicking on all levels and are 1st place in the division which has been unbelievable. Coming into the season no one would of thought the Celtics would be first place coming into the season without Rondo and they have been proving everyone wrong. The Celtics improve to 9-12 on the season and have been building chemistry day by day as you can catch the players laughing and hugging each other in the locker rooms. This team has grown and have no sites on tanking at all from the players standpoints.

The Celtics will begin there week facing the Knicks on sunday in Madison Square Garden then they go to Brooklyn to face KG followed by Doc Rivers coming back to the TD Garden on wednesday. This is going to be an emotional roller coster week for the Celtics and the fans but this week will also show us what this years team is made of going forward. Only time will tell how good or how bad they will be but they are 4th place in the East right now if the playoffs were today and thats a positive aspect for Stevens and the team.
