CONNECTICUT (BASN)– Serena Williams might be a bigger favorite at this year’s US Open, beginning on August 26 than she ever has in her career.

She won the event last year.

Although she  has only won one Major this year, the French, her 16th Major she has asserted herself throughout the year.

Williams has had a career-best 34 match win streak and owns seven titles. She has not lost a match on clay for the first time in her career.

The 32 year old superstar has called her season, “decent”, but she knows better. She is an amazing 8-1 in finals, losing only at Qatar to former world no. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

Williams at 32 does not appear to be slowing down, but instead getting better. She is focusing more on singles, perhaps because her sister and doubles partner, Venus has suffered from illness.

Look for Maria Sharapova and Azarenka to challenge, but Williams should be hoisting the trophy on September 8.
