Heisman Trophy CONNECTICUT— Here’s a brief look at my top five Heisman Trophy award candidates entering this weekend’s action.

Missouri QB Chase Daniel: The best player in the country right now for perhaps the best team. He has thrown for 1,665 yards and 15 TDs. He will be tough to beat.

Michigan State RB Javon Ringer: He has rushed for almost 1,000 yards and has unlimited potential in the Big 10.

UConn RB Donald Brown: After the loss to North Carolina, it is clear that he is the key to the team. He kept them in it in the first quarter despite no quality quarterbackplay. He was unheralded before the season and may have too many people to climb over. Plus, UConn will not be in a BCS game.

BYU QB Max Hall: He may have the best arm in the country for a team that can get into a BCS bowl. He has thrown for 1,587 yard and 17 TDs.

Texas QB Colt McCoy: He was in it last year, but did not get off to a good start this year. Right now,he’s playing great for what may be the best team in the country. This week, the Longhorns meet No. 1 Oklahoma.
