LEXINGTON, KY.—No one would be upset if Amare Stoudemire was the only entry in the All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Contest.

After the All-Star break, the NBA shows why it’s the NBA… Serious Ball by Serious Players. And by the way, if both are healthy, write down the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons for the NBA Championship. Speaking of San Antonio, I haven’t seen a white player break down brothers and go to the hole the way Manu Ginobili does since Pistol Pete Marivich back in the day. Give him his do…He’s one of the most exciting players in the game and should be on the all-star team.

The big diamond stud earring worn by many NBA players in both ears must cost them thousands right? Well, a source that I’ll give a 9.999 in credibility says most of the players have cubic zirconium earrings in their ears. People think they are real diamonds because those wearing them are NBA millionaires…I mean who’s going to check right?

I receive brutal e-mails from Serena’s fans from time to time about my commentary on her attire. I must now say she looked absolutely fabulous in her multi-piece outfits worn in the semi’s and finals of the Australian Open. She looked like the winner she is… Fine, fine, fine.

This off week before the Super Bowl is the worst week of the NFL season. Two weeks is entirely to much time between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. You can drown from the hype and the mindless time filling stories leading up to the big game. I mean how many times can you compare Tom Brady to the greatest quarterbacks who ever lived?

Jamal Lewis climbed out of a barrel of s**t smelling like a rose didn’t he?

The smart money has University of Kentucky freshman Joe Crawford leaving the Wildcats after this semester because of his lack of playing time. The McDonald’s All-American from Detroit has Michigan and Michigan State drooling more than they did in the late seventies when both coveted Lansing native Magic Johnson.

You mean to tell me that between ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports and Fox Sports South they can’t find one Saturday afternoon in the regular season to air a basketball game from the SWAC and MEAC….c’mon now.
