CONNECTICUT (BASN) -- Currently, the Lady Bears of Baylor are the No. 1 women’s basketball team in the country. They go 13 deep.

They have everything that it takes to win another National Championship for Kim Mulkey. If there was a missing ingredient, it was added in December in the Bahamas when Destiny Williams, an Illinois transfer joined the team against Clemson.

That wasn’t her best game of the year. Actually, she probably has not played her best game of the year. Take Wednesday night for instance. Baylor beat a 14-3 Kansas team on the road 76-37.

Yes, that is no misprint. In fact, Williams has outrebounded Brittany Griner on occasion. She only played 25 minutes and had 12 points and 6 rebounds in a starting role. She's new to the starting line-up.

She wasn’t even recruited by Baylor out of high school in Michigan. Williams was the No. 8 senior in high school and was a McDonald’s All-American.

That impressed Mulkey, but she noted that Williams would have to show plenty of hard work to earn playing time. She has worked hard and now is an integral factor in a team that could win it all in April.
