But to be truthful, most of us wanted to see Michael Vick in the Super Bowl instead of Ben Roethlisberger. Vick winning the Super Bowl this year would have made Black History Month worth celebrating.
Honestly, could you have imagined if Michael Vick would have led the Philadelphia Eagles to victory against his former team, the Atlanta Falcons in the Georgia Dome, what the outcome would be?
There would have been riots in the streets all across America.
Yes, the thought of Michael Vick playing in the Super Bowl would have been monumental, but we'll have to settle for the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers instead.
Yes, we would have prefered having Lovie Smith's Chicago Bears (without Jay Cutler of course) playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin instead of the Green Bay Packers in order to see two great Black coaches compete for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
But we'll watch the Packers vs. the Steelers without complaining.
Why? Because we love football. (Read my previous article on BASN called Why Men Love Football to learn more.)
As a result, on Super Bowl Sunday, I will be cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers twirling my Terrible Towel while singing "Black and Yellow" by rapper Whiz Khalifa even though I am a New York Giants fan.
Besides, if the Steelers win, Mike Tomlin's name should and must be mentioned in the same category as the New England Patriots' Bill Belichick.
So, let's go Steelers!! Long live the Black and Yellow!!
Sorry, Cowboy fans.....Maybe next year.
