But Dulles slips past Nimitz in tournament final

With the win, Dulles remained unbeaten at 8-0, while Nimitz suffered their first loss of the season at 7-1. Both teams are destined to meet again in the high school girls playoffs.
This tournament championship matchup featured the battle of the No. 1 and No. 2 girls' high school players in the country -- Nimitz's Brittney Griner and Dulles' Kelsey Bone.
The Vikings got the win, but the 6-foot-8 Griner won round one as she scored 24 points, 12 rebounds, blocked 11 shots, had three steals, six assists and a dunk. Bone, a 6-foot-5 senior scored 18 points and five rebounds in the game.
The Cougars led 14-11 at the end of one and went on to
take their three-point lead into the lockerroom at halftime. However the Vikings forced several Nimitz turnovers in route to a 17-13 third quarter run, taking a one-point lead at the end of the third period.
Dulles road to the championship came with wins over Jersey Village, Katy Taylor, Fort Bend Austin, Willowridge and Nimitz. Nimitz road to the championship came with victories over Clements, Foster, Stratford, and Westfield.
Griner, a Baylor-bound signee scored 123 points, 75 rebounds, 50 blocks and nine dunks in five games during the tournament.
