We Don't Support the Women

I couldn't quite figure out why we don't support women's sport the way we should: The fundamentals of the WNBA are better than the men, and the women are incredibly talented and competitive. But after some long reflection on the disparity of support, I gave myself the answer to my own question.

Saturday, Jennifer Gillom will be one of six inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Last week, she became just the second former WNBA player to be named a head coach in the league (joining Sacramento's Jenny Boucek), replacing Don Zierden for the 3-0 Lynx.

In his fifth year at Hampton University, Walter Mebane led the Lady Pirates to the MEAC tournament final. Hampton lost to N.C. A&T and coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs, Mebane's former boss. For his accomplishment, he was abruptly released.
