Wisdom-Hylton is joining her alma mater, Purdue, as an assistant coach, according to the Greece team.

The move is all a plot for Swoopes to work her way back to the WNBA, where she was one of the league's original faces and won four consecutive championships with the defunct Houston Comets.

But Swoopes, 38, suffered a back injury in 2007, undergoing surgery that October. Seattle signed her as a free agent, watching the three-time MVP workout during the offseason. Swoopes spoke of the Storm as a rebirth.

Only she suffered multiple injuries during the 2008 season, averaging 7.1 points and 4.3 rebounds -- her worst production since her 1997 rookie season when she joined the WNBA weeks after giving birth to her only son.

With the league decreasing roster sizes to 11 and Swoopes' veteran status demanding a higher salary, Storm coach Brian Agler cut her.

But the legend believes she can still contribute in the WNBA, declaring she's not retired. She spoke with Agler, who's also director of player personnel, about landing a gig overseas to display her talents to any scout willing to watch. Swoopes remained in shape by playing in various rec league around Seattle and on national traveling teams.

Despite her obvious talent, it'll be hard for Swoopes to break back into the WNBA. Aside from the limited rosters, the WNBA lost a team in the Sacramento Monarchs and decreased salary caps by about $28,000 from last season's total.
