1. UConn: No one is even close. They return four starters and have the best player in the country in Maya Moore. Also, Kalana Green is back from injury. The frosh are great and Geno Auriemma is the best coach in the game.
2. Stanford: They lose Candace Wiggins, but return much from a national runner-up.
3. Rutgers: Oh, the frosh. They could be the best in the country. Nikki Speed will be a great one by the end of January. It is Epiphanny Prince's team and she knows it. She has all the offensive weapons to be the best scorer in the country if Coach Stringer will let her.
4. Oklahoma: It will be Paris (Courtney and Ashley) in Norman.
5. Maryland: Still many returnees and great recruits from a team that disappointed a bit last year.
6. Cal: They won 27 games last year and return much from that squad. They are a major player on the West Coast. Through great coaching, they've eclipsed UCLA. They also play a tough out of Conference schedule that includes Rutgers, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
7. UNC: Once again a lot of starters back. This is a program on the rise. Great recruiting recently.
8. Louisville: Just lost their center, but return much from a team that went deep into the NCAA's.
9. Tennessee: So low for the Lady Vols. They lost all five starters, yet they've won two straight National Championships. They still have Pat and she's worth a few wins. Have great freshmen coming in and they'll be better at the end of the season.
10. Duke: One of their assistant coaches say they will be really good. Agreed. Abby Waner will have a great season.
Others to watch: Texas, Xavier, Auburn, Vanderbilt and Purdue.
