Taking Their Bite At The Apple

CONNECTICUT (BASN) -- The Williams sisters -- Venus and Serena -- can't meet each other in the finals this year at the U.S. Open. But it's not because a lack of ability or desire. They simply are in the same bracket as so often happens so only one of them can reach the final.

They are still the two best women in the world when they want to.

Serena has won two Slams this summer. She can ceratinly win a third.

Venus is not playing as well as she has in the past but she can never be written off.

We all have heard about the Russians and how well they are playing. For our money, Elena Dementieva has the best chance. She has had the best summer.

Kim Clijsters is back and has played well thus far. She may not have enough stamina to win seven matches.

Dinara Safina is the No. 1 seed but we don't see her winning it.Too many chokes in the past.

So that leaves us with Venus and Serena all over again.

Venus is in better shape. Serena has played better.

We see one of the two winning yet another major. Our pick is Venus. For no other reason other than the fact that she is due this year.
