The Honorable Secretary Roderick R. Page was the keynote speaker which was then followed by a tour of the facility. A fitting end to a historic weekend!

Following the clinic celebrities including former NFL MVP Joey Browner, former Congressman JC Watts, and Congressman Ralph Regula teed it up and played with HBCU alumni at the Historic Clearview Golf Course.

The SIAC players including Jared Perkins (Kentucky State), Brad Freeman (Paine) and Galen Aldrich (Benedict) put their skills on display as they chipped in tips on how to shoot a variety of shots.

While the alumni and celebrities played the course, the SIAC student athletes met with recruiters and executives from John Deere, Goodyear and various other companies offering job and internship opportunities.

Following the clinic and golf outing, the Pro Football Hall of Fame opened their doors for a banquet to celebrate the historical accomplishments over the weekend.

Each participant from Benedict, Kentucky State, and Paine received medals. Freshman Robert “Calvin” Mason (right) of Benedict received the Medalist Award for shooting the lowest score of the tournament…a 147.

Benedict’s Head Coach Daniel Gillis was named the Coach of the Tournament and was presented with an award along with the 1st place trophy for his team’s victory in the inaugural event.

NFL Great Joey Browner presented the awards.

Secretary Roderick Paige was the keynote speaker and addressed the crowd with a message entitled “What does Leaving A Legacy really mean?” The honorable JC Watts, former congressman and CEO/Founder of JC Watts Companies, was the Emcee of the event.

The SIAC student athletes presented Dr. Powell and Renee Powell a shadowbox with an autographed picture of all the SIAC student athletes along with a signed golf ball by each of the coaches to commemorate the event.

Following the event all attendees were allowed to view the facility and experience the Football Hall of Fame.
