KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals announced that the club will partner with FSN Kansas City to salute the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat program recipients during the 2008 season.

The Royals started the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat program in 2007 to pay tribute to the lasting impact O’Neil had on the game of baseball and the Kansas City community.

In 2008, the Royals continue to honor O’Neil during every home game by filling “Buck’s seat” with a member of the community who embodies his vibrant spirit. Throughout the season, FSN Kansas City will recognize Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat recipients during home telecasts.

“The Royals are excited to partner with FSN Kansas City on the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat program,” said Toby Cook, Vice President-Community Affairs & Publicity.

“During our broadcasts to fans throughout the Midwest, we will be able to remember Buck and honor the inspiring work our honorees do on behalf of our communities.”

Honorees will also continue to be recognized during the Royals pregame ceremony each game and will enjoy the game from “Buck’s seat” behind home plate at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals invite fans throughout the Midwest to nominate individuals they feel are worthy of filling “Buck’s seat.” Each honoree receives four tickets to the game, two tickets to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, a copy of The Soul of Baseball by Joe Posnanski and other Royals items.

Nominations should include a description in 100 words or less of why the nominee should be honored with the award as well as relevant contact information.

Applications can be completed at royals.com or by writing to Kansas City Royals, attn: Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat, P.O. Box 419969, Kansas City, MO, 64141.
