Established in 2000, the Early Overstreet Cancer Research Foundation (EOCRF) was started by sports agent Brian Overstreet, in memory of his father, who died of Early Overstreet was a well-known community figure, mentor, role model, educator, adored husband and father. Many years after his death, his spirit lives on. "Mostly everyone in the room tonight has been touched by someone they know who has had cancer," Brian Overstreet said. "To be able to continue my dad's legacy and help to raise funds to assist with cancer research is a blessing". The sole purpose of the Early Overstreet Cancer Research Foundation is to lend support to families affected by cancer through monetary donations and community awareness . The EOCRF partners with community organizations to provide outreach and awareness programs that assist in the research of possible cures. Some of the guest in attendance at the reception included: Victor Degrate (Detroit Lions), Brian Iwuh (Jacksonville Jaguars), Lawrence Vickers (Cleveland Browns), Rex Hadnot (Cleveland Browns), Casey Hampton (Pittsburgh Steelers), Bobby Reid (Texas Southern), Coach Johnnie Cole (Texas Southern), City council member Ronald Green & wife Hillary, Council member Peter Brown. Council member Brown presented Brian Overstreet with a proclamation to honor him on his eighth Annual EOCRF Event.
