As a result, these five fabulous players were the leading nominees for college football's most prestigious award, the Heisman Trophy -- which was awarded to Ingram -- Saturday night in New York City. Even though he may have been overshadowed by these five phenomenal
athletes and overlooked by the Heisman Trophy committee -- in my humble
opinion -- Clemson All-American and three time All-ACC
running back C.J. Spiller is the most complete player in college football
and by far the best player in the ACC.
For instance, even in defeat against the Georgia Tech Yellow
Jacket in the ACC title game -- which Clemson lost 39-34 -- the 5-foot-11,
195-pound Spiller was simply spectacular on the ground as he rushed
for 233 yards.
If you are a true Clemson fan, you were not shocked by Spiller's stellar performance against the
Rambling Wreck of Georgia Tech because C.J. throughout his career has been a prime time player.
He holds the ACC's record for all purpose yardage. Spiller, in fact, has established more than 25 records on an NCAA, ACC & school basis. For example, Spiller is one of the five players in FBS history to
reach 7,000 career yards, 1,500 kickoff return yards, and 1,000 receiving
yards in his collegiate career.
This young man can play. And with all of those records, he graduated from Clemson in three and half years with a B.A in sociology.
C.J., see you in the NFL next year!!
