BCA Opposes 'Civil Rights Initiatives'
Organization comments on proposals being raised in Colorado and Nebraska

Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Black Coaches and Administrators opposes the deceptively-titled
"Civil Rights Initiatives" currently on the November ballot in the states of Colorado (Colorado Amendment 46) and Nebraska that, if enacted, would threaten programs that provide access and opportunity in those states.
The BCA Board urges all BCA members and the public to reject those discriminatory initiatives.
In a joint statement, BCA Executive Director, Floyd A. Keith and BCA President and Georgia Tech Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Paul Hewitt said, “Instead of eliminating and reducing opportunities for minority students who would be negatively impacted by these initiatives, all Americans should be looking at ways we can provide greater college opportunities for all low-income and underserved youth."
"We need to take a broader, more inclusive perspective of our society.”
About the Black Coaches & Administrators
The Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to foster the growth and development of ethnic minorities at all levels of sports both nationally and internationally.
The BCA is committed to creating a positive enlightened environment where issues can be examined closely, debated sincerely and resolved honestly. The BCA's focus involves the concerns of its colleagues in professional sports, NCAA (Division I, II, and III), NAIA (Division I and II), junior college and high school levels.
On May 31, 2007, BCA Board of Directors unveiled the new name of the organization during the 2007 BCA National Convention and Expo. The name change was made to clarify the expanding membership population of administrators and coaches within the BCA. Subsequently, BCA is now Black Coaches & Administrators.
