He has since graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics but class is still in session for Andre and he’s taken his talents to the Utah Flash of the NBA's D-League.

The 6-foot-3 guard is averaging 18.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.7 apg and is just scratching the surface of to all the talent that he possesses.   “I continually work on the fundamentals of my game, play hard and maximize my performance every time that I step on the court,” stated Andre.

He spends his time during the off season in Richmond, Virginia working with a personal trainer and blending his academic accruement to becoming an Engineer.   “Basketball and Education have always gone together for me and I’ve been able to accomplish so much,” said Andre.

One of Andre’s greatest assets is his three-point shooting ability, it’s has been a staple of his career that goes back to his days at Highland Springs High School in Richmond .

“I take the greatest pride in my defense because I don’t want to be seen as a liability on the court.   I can have a bad shooting night, that will happen to any player, but when I’m playing solid defense it allows me to stay on the court,” added Andre.

The Utah Flash is a tough, defensive minded team and Andre fits in perfectly.   “We focus on stopping our opponents first and then capitalize on scoring opportunities from the turnovers,” commented Andre.

U tah has one of the best assist to field goal ratio in the league.   “We enjoy playing together and we don’t have any problems sharing the ball because we’re a well balanced team with several different options,” Andre continued.

Andre was with the Flash last season when they lost to Colorado in the D-League Championship game.   “In game one we were down 26 points and came back and sent the game into overtime and took the lead but we had spent to much energy and couldn’t get over the hump, said Andre.

“That was a tough lost and I took it personal because we have some of the best fans in the world that come out each night, regardless of the weather, and supports this franchise.   I don’t want to disappoint them again,” Andre continued.

This is the attitude of his teammates as well.   When the Flash are on the court you better believe that they’re coming hard, going to attack and run until their opponents pass out.   “We will compete and be competitive until that last second is off the clock because that’s the identity of our team,” stated Andre.

On Saturday, the Flash will be hosting the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and it’s the intent of each member on that team to send those Birds home with the first lost of the New Year.
