NEW HARVARD COACH TOMMY AMAKER
Who says
Black
Athlete Sports Network
is
NOT
POWERFUL
NOT
Harvard University
Only days after our
POWERFUL 2 part expose about the Racism of
Exclusion at Harvard University they have just announced they are
hiring Tommy Amaker as their First African American head coach there
since
1991. Amaker
will become the new Basketball coach. Coincidence. Sure it is.
Here is the Real Message
Here in the Age of the ever
expanding Internet all realities are being recast. Sports included.
Black Athlete Sports Network which would have been a meaningless
concept prior to the birth and development of the Internet is now a
Player.
It is only the Beginning
but this is our Baptism
( one of many )
Clout is no longer defined by the size of the
organization or its place in Old Media. There is a new largely level
playing field. Our stories bounced all around the nation and throughout
Harvard without our having a multi-million dollar distribution network
of our own. W don't need it.
We have a trillion dollar distribution network
available to us the Internet and it can reach into every corner of the
Wide World from the most modest all the way to the gilded office of the
President of Harvard. As easily.
A
massive media juggernaut brought down Don Imus. We had a similar impact
at Harvard with just one publication. Ours. Because the Internet
re-orders realities. And why the Smart Money knows BASN has the
potential to take a hand in re-making Sports in America. As Black
athletes themselves appreciate the possibilities inherent in the BASN
DNA.
The New York Times sports
section and ESPN may have as whole lot more bulk than Black Athlete
Sports Network ever will but bulk holds less and less significance each
passing day as the capabilities available from the Internet endlessly
expand before our eyes. As our readers - and even those who do not -
will find out in the coming days, weeks and months. BASN is going to be
a factor in the decision on who will be the new owners of the Chicago
Cubs.
We intend to press the issue
as it never has been that there has never been an African American
owner even as Baseball "celebrates" the
60th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the
Color Barrier in American Sports. And for no good reason whatsoever. We
will cut through all the Old Shibboleths.
With our New Media
As for Tommy Amaker
former head coach at
Michigan University
We don't expect any thank you nor for Harvard to
admit the impact of our series. Who cares. The job got done. Of course
it is
ONLY a Start.
Nothing much has really changed at Harvard. One Black Coach. Please. As
for the scandalous make up of the
47 NCAA teams at Harvard nothing has changed at
all.
We'll return to
Harvard
again and again
and again
in the coming weeks and
months and years until
Real Change takes place
and it is permanent
for right now
Congratulations
Tommy
Amaker
it's our
Pleasure

TIME TO CHANGE HARVARD
