HIS AIRNESS GROUNDED

OAKLAND, CA.-This past week number 23 Michael Jordan, his Airness, gave the American Press something to talk about. Jordan made a short statement about African American males being shot all over the country and that it concerned him.

RESIZEDjordan

Mr. Jordan contributed to the (NAACP) National Association for the Advancement of Colored People-Legal Defense Fund and The Institute for Community Police Relations this past week. One group puts African American men in jail the other tries to get them out of jail. REALLY?

He stated that he can no longer stay silent about the problem in the United States. I guess not when it affects his wallet. He had to speak up!!!! Dead people can’t buy shoes can they?  The Jordan shoes sales have dropped the last two years because of the silent boycott by African American males. People are not risking their lives over shoes anymore.

REALLY, where was number 23 when Black males were being shot, beat up, and bullied for his shoes? Where was he when thousands of shoppers had to stand in line in 90 degree heat in the summer and near zero degrees in the winter to purchase his Air Jordans. NOT A WORD.

Where was he when mass chaos broke out in Seattle, Houston, and Jersey City when twenty five shoppers were injured by trampling crowds at malls, buying his shoes. NOT A WORD

Twenty five years ago Air Jordan was informed about the working conditions overseas in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand were not good. These female workers were paid 25 cents an hour. These shoes were being sold in the United States at $125 to $160 for a per of shoes. THESE SAME SHOES ARE NOW $160-190 dollars. ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!

Workers were being exposed to toxic chemicals that became intense because of the lack of ventilation in the building. These hard working women started having disabled children and dying because of the chemicals. NOT A WORD.

His father was murdered by gunfire on a North Carolina Highway in 1993. Here was an opportunity to speak out against gun violence. NOT A WORD.

Jordan stated  ”Republicans buy shoes”, do they stand in line too? I doubt it.

RESIZEDAS17_Charlotte

Maybe, Jordan’s rant is because the (NBA) National Basketball Association is moving the All Star Game out of the City of Charlotte because of the recent anti gay legislation in North Carolina. It has been widely reported, the North Carolina legislature rushed last month to pass HB 2, the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, which requires transgender people (and everyone else) to use public restrooms according to the biological sex on their birth certificate. It also bars local governments from passing ordinances like Charlotte’s, which permitted transgender people to chose public restroom according to their gender identity. The NBA did not go far enough. It should have threatened to remove the team from North Carolina.

Maybe this is what prompted Jordan to finally speak up and find a conscience.
Jordan could have donated (2 million dollars) to inner city programs, buildings, and organizers and African American leaders but I guess that’s asking too much.

BLACK LIVES STILL DON’T MATTER

MR. 23 YOU SERVE YOUR MASTERS WELL!!!!

Mr. Jordan could have made a difference and a statement for change. Instead he made a statement for capitalism over humanity. He made a statement for Air Jordan instead of saving African American Males lives…

WELL DONE!!!!
