Westbrook’s 10th Triple Double and Thunder Defense Beat Miami Heat (93-75)
The Thunder are coming in riding on Russell Westbrook’s amazing triple double run in his previous games. The Thunder got Enes Kanter back this game as well against the Heat and he came out aggressive. Kanter had 15 points in the 1st quarter and he seemed to have his way with Hassan Whiteside in the paint. Kanter creates a mismatch in the post because he can drive and slide out for the jumper near the free throw line. The Thunder are beasts when they have had Adams and Kanter in the lineup and they both combined for 37 points and 22 rebounds. Hassan Whiteside was in foul trouble in the game but managed to have 13 points and 6 rebounds. Whiteside would of been a presence in the paint but the fouls and the lack of hustle got to him. The Heat got out rebounded 52-40 in the game and just couldn’t get anything going.
Russell Westbrook had his 10th triple double and it looks as though no one can stop him at all in the league. Russell was all over the court and wasn’t going to be denied at all. Westbrook is very competitive and he looks to take these games without KD as a challenge to show everyone that he can run this team. Russ had 12 points, 17 assists, and 10 rebounds in the game and is in the driver seat for the MVP. The best thing about Westbrook to me is the fact that his assists are up there and that means that his teammates are eating too. Russell spoke about his teammate Anthony Morrow as of late and how he comes into each game locked in and also stated he’s one of the best shooters in the world.
Morrow has made big shot, after big shot since joining the Thunder this season. Morrow had 12 points but has grown as a shooter and also got in the paint for a monster block on Chris Anderson. Morrow talked about his jump shot and his quick release and said “I’ve had this since high school”. Its nothing new because Morrow was a sharpshooter coming into the league and now his challenge is keeping it as quick as possible and accurate.
Dion Waiters had 10 points in the game but came in ready to face his idol Dwyane Wade who had 12 points. Waiters likes the challenge of playing against Wade and also gave him major respect. Waiters has been coming on as of late and will have a huge role now with Andre Roberson going down with the ankle injury if he has to take some time off.
The Heat had no answer for a Thunder team that is clicking on all cylinders right now and didn’t even have a chance as the Thunder subbed their starters out half way in the 4th. The Thunder will be playing against the Lakers on Tuesday at Chesapeake Arena and will try to keep that 8th seed lead on the Pelicans.
