The Thunder came into this game fresh off their win against the Hornets as the new players seemed to just fit right in. Coming into Sundays game against the Nuggets the word around was that it was a fluke that they played so well together. The Thunder came out playing together as if they didn’t add 5 new players since media day. The Thunder saw something in Enes Kanter that not even the Jazz saw and he came out playing out of his mind in the paint. Kanter had 20 points and 12 rebounds in this game and actually complimented Serge Ibaka who had 20 points 8 rebounds and 8 blocked shots. The Thunder have a great tandem between those two and if they are used at the right moments together they can be special. Kanter talks about his first game in Chesapeake Arena and playing alongside Serge.

Russell Westbrook has continued to be the leader that everyone knew he could be if given the chance. Westbrook had 21 points and 17 assists and was playing outstanding. If he isn’t in the MVP conversation then I don’t understand the voting process because Russ has accepted every challenge. Everything that has been thrown in his way Russ has taken the best approach and made things happen. He praised his teammates and also just talks about doing his job. Russ had a big night but was able to still give props to his new added pieces and talk about the big game of Enes Kanter. Russell knows that the Thunder are in the driving seat for the playoffs and with the team losing KD for a few this is his moment to takeover.

Dion Waiters had a lot of good things to say about his new teammates but he should also talk about his game because now he’s getting the minutes Reggie didn’t want. Dion had 17 points off the bench and has been a great addition to the team as he brings the toughness and also he brings that smoothness to his game with his jumper.  DJ Augustin will need to fill the void that comes with the backup point guard that the Thunder have always lacked in because Reggie was more like a two guard. DJ spoke about being with the Thunder and playing with Russ and the growing chemistry.

The Thunder continue their rise to the top as they play the Pacers on Tuesday in OKC and will have to being their A game to try and make sure they get a win. The Thunder are trying to make a splash in the playoffs and will miss KD for a few but with the way the team and Russ are playing right now this was perfect timing to get KD’s foot checked out.
