Last year African American quarterbacks reached for the stars with success. One weekend on the grid-iron ten Black quarterbacks started and garnered a 7-1 record with two injuries and two no decisions in week number seven. That was history but the American Sports media did not notice or report it. The question should be asked why only six quarterbacks of color starting in the National Football League?
THE HISTORY CONTINUES

* Black Quarterbacks- 7*
*1) 3-2
Russell Wilson- Seattle Seahawks-rs_634x1024-140121152427-634_-Russell-Wilson-hot-nfl-012114
When a team wins the Super Bowl they become the hunted, no longer the hunter thus teams play their best game each week. This is what happened when the Seahawks played America’s Team, The Dallas Cowboys.
The Field General tried to keep the Hawks in the game. Even the 12th man had a say with their proud load noise in this battle and with the resurgence of America’s Team, The Dallas Cowboys.
The Hawks started out right with a blocked kick for a touchdown and an interception that led to a field goal in the first quarter. Century Link Field was rocking and rolling but the Cowboys had other ideas.
It was downhill after that, Tony Romo (22-32 for 250 yards and two touchdowns) and his antics kept the Boys in the game. The Seattle defense could not catch Romo in the pocket. The backbreaker was Williams toe tapping sideline catch in the third quarter. The Cowboys ran the ball down Seattle’s neck with DeMarco Murray (29 rushes and 115 yards) taking time off the clock unlike recent Dallas Cowboy throwing teams.  The Dallas defense rushed Wilson into hurried throws, disrupting the Seattle offense. Could this be the blueprint on how to beat the Seattle Seahawks?
Wilson (14-28 for 126 yards with one touchdown and one rushing touchdown) had a chance with Seattle’s last position that ended in an interception and a 30-23 Dallas victory. The Cowboys shutdown running back Marshawn Lynch with 10 carries and 61 yards.

*2) 4-2
Colin Kaepernick- San Francisco 49ers-
Do not understand the slow starts of the San Fran. 49ers. They did it again in St. Louis, letting the Rams get a 14 point lead in the first period before responding.  This seems to be the M.O. of the Cherry and Gold for 2014.
With time running out Kaepernick threw an 80 yard bomb to Brandon Lloyd to end the first half putting the Niners back in the game the Rams led10-14.
The Niner defense shut the door on rookie Austin Davis in the 2nd half allowing only a field goal and under 100 total yards. Meanwhile the Niner offense took minutes off the clock with two long scoring drives in the third period, demoralizing and tiring the St. Louis defense. San Francisco may have found a running game with Gore, Kaepernick, and upstart Hyde.
Kap went 22-36 for 343 yards and three touchdowns in the 31-17 victory leaving San Fran only a half game behind the NFC West leading Arizona Cardinals.

*3) 1-5
Geno Smith- New York Jets-
The New York Jets are in serious trouble with all of the confusion at the top administrative positions. There cannot be peace on the field with this going on. Head Coach Rex Ryan does not understand offenses and refuses to hire an offensive coach to help him transform the Jets and Geno Smith into legitimate contenders.
Smith (23-43 with 190 yards and two touchdowns with an interception) just ran into a better quarterback in Payton Manning with his 2013-14 Super Bowl appearing Denver Broncos.
Payton Manning (22-33 and 237 yards with three touchdowns) is one touchdown away from Britt Favre’s career record, he tried really hard to get it in New York (New Jersey) but it stands at 506 and could be broken next week in Denver.
The Jets have to stop this five game losing streak. It’s not the defense fault because they held their own against the Broncos. There were too many mistakes were made by Gang Green in Northern New Jersey. It is the Jets running game that has handicapped this team. WHERE IS IT? This creates more pressure on Geno Smith to perform and that’s a work in progress. Another question, do they want to play for Rex Ryan?

*4) 2-2
E.J. Manuel-Buffalo Bills- DID NOT PLAY

*5) 2-2-1
Cam Newton- Carolina Panthers-
Cam Newton did all that he could to get the Black and Blue Cats this victory.
The Panthers started out right with an early touchdown and a field goal but the Cats defense could not hold. Newton had a great day (29-46 and 284 yards with two touchdowns and one interception) rushing for over 100 yards and another touchdown. This tie could hurt them at the end of the season.

*6) 1-1
Teddy Bridgewater-Minnesota Vikings-
Teddy Bridgewater (23-37 and 188 yards and three interceptions) was just overmatched in this game by the Detroit Lion defense.  The Lion defense created eight sacks and 82 minus yards. Bridgewater could not move because the Viking pocket collapsed around him before the play could be set up. The Viking running game has to take pressure off of the young quarterback or it might be a very long season.

*7) 0-1 Robert Griffin III- The Washington Football Club- DID NOT PLAY

PLEASE DO NOT USE FEDEX until this company stops supporting Dan Snyder and the Washington Football Club’s team name. The corporate name of FedEx should be removed from the stadium.
TOTAL 9-12-1

WEEK 0-3-1

Black Head Coaches- 4
3-2-1
Ron Rivera- Carolina Panthers-Latin Head Coach-
These Cats used one of their lives as they escape the jungle with a tie. The Cincinnati Bengals should have won this game. It will cost them at the end of the season in the NFC South. The New Orleans Saints are very happy with their bye week moving within a half game of Panthers. The Saints have not played well but are still in the race for the title.

3-1-1
Marvin Lewis – Cincinnati Bengals-
The Bengals continue to confuse their fans. This should have been a victory. The Halloween Cats had the ball and the clock in their favor in overtime. Andy Dalton (33-43 for 323 yards and two touchdowns with one interception) had a good day but just could not get this victory. Dalton dropped in the middle of the field to give the kicker and easy spot to hit the winning field goal. NOT!!! It ended in a 37 all tie.

3-3
Mike Tomlin- Pittsburgh Steelers-
The Cleveland Browns could not wait to get the Steelers in their house after years of frustration.  They lit up the scoreboard early and often as the Browns took it to the house on Pittsburgh. The Steelers are back at 500, only a game and half behind the Bengals.
The Dog Pound can be heard barking again as they run the ball down the Steelers neck. Ben Roethlisberger (21-42 and 288 yards and one touchdown) has an 18-1 record against the Browns but on this day the Cleveland Browns with quarterback Brian Hoyer (8-17 and 217 yards) took command of this game with running attack of Ben Tate who scored two touchdowns with 78 yards on 12 carries. The Cleveland Browns win 31-10.

4-2
bildeMr. Caldwell- Detroit Lions-
Mr. Caldwell is the only Black coach to reach the victory stand this week. These cats gave a big roar in the 17-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings as Mr. Caldwell has solidified their defense. The Tampa Two defensive systems are swinging and singing in the Motor City giving up under 300 total yards.

1-5
Lovie Smith- Tampa Bay Buccaneers-
I feel sorry for this man. He has inherited a very bad team with a bad quarterback-Mike Glennon and no defense (which allowed almost 500 total yards). This is a major project and it might take years to rebuild. Bucs lose 48-17 to Baltimore Ravens. Only good thing is that this team has a bye next week.

TOTAL 14-12-2
WEEK 1-3-2

Black General Managers-6
3-3
Buffalo Bill- Doug Whaley-
The Bills changed ownership (Kim and Terry Pegula) before the Bills-New England game, meanwhile the Pats kept the spell over Buffalo. The Bills will be staying in Northern New York but they have to find a way to beat the New England Patriots if they want to be a contender in the AFC East.  The Pats win 37-22 for the sixth time in a row.  Kyle Orton started again for Buffalo with a 24-38 for 299 yards and two touchdowns, with a critical interception and a fumble at the end of the second quarter. This is Orton’s second start since the E.J. Manuel benching three weeks ago.

4-2
Detroit Lion Martin Mayhew-
The Detroit Lions beat up on the Minnesota Vikings 17-3 as the Blue and Silver defense led by linemen Ndamukong Suh shutting down Teddy Bridgewater and the Purple Gang leading to three interceptions. Detroit might have also found a field goal kicker, Matt Prater who hit a 52 yarder in the second quarter. Matthew Stafford (19-34 for 185 yards and one touchdown and an interception) missed his two main targets Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush

3-2
Houston Texan Rick Smith-
The Houston Texans give the Colts the first period. Andrew Luck and the Indy Colts escaped as they beat the Houston Texans 34-28. The Colts had blistering first quarter scoring 24 points and putting this game to rest. The Texans had two chances to win but they fumbled the ball twice once by quarterback Fitzpatrick (15-23 for 212 yards and one touchdown). Fitz could not hold on to the ball as he fumbled five times. Running back Andre Johnson lost the ball on Texans other fourth quarter drive. Arian Foster carried the Texans with 20 carries for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

3-3
The New York Football Giant Jerry Reese-TGC-Reese
The Gee men ran into a buzz saw in Philadelphia’s LINK  Field as the Eagles dismantled New York with 20 point first quarter. Eli had his head on a swivel looking for Green Bird defensemen who blitzed him all night long. He was sacked six times. The crushing blow for New York came in the third quarter when wide out Victor Cruz went down with a major knee injury. This could be the end of the Giants playoff run for 2014. The Rookie Oden Beckham Jr. has to step it up for Big Blue next week. The Gee man scored 30 points the last two games just could not muster an offensive drive.
Manning ended the night 13-23 and 151 yards and some soul searching again after it seemed that the Giants had righted a sunken ship. Back to square one.
The Eagle defense just stymied the New York offense, Philadelphia wins 27-0.

4-2 Baltimore Raven Ozzie Newsome-
The Raven just blitzed the Tampa Bay Bucs with 24 first quarter scores as Joe Flacco (21-29 for 305 yards and five touchdowns) threw for four touchdowns before people got settled in their seats. Justin Forsett carried the rock 14 times for 111 yards in a purple bird 48-17 victory. The Purple Birds are tied in the AFC North Division.

0-5 Oakland Raider Reggie McKenzie-
The Raiders have always played better when the San Diego Chargers are their opponents. This would be the same. The Black and Silver seemed to rise from the 0-4 ashes and give the Bolts a game. In fact the Oakland Raiders had the lead in the fourth quarter. Derek Carr became the gun slinger with an (18-34 with 282 yards and four touchdowns). Oakland stretched the Charger defense and it looked like the old bombing Raider teams of yester-year.
Also the two headed running attack returned with Maurice Jones Drew and Darren McFadden rushed for over 100 yards.
The Oakland Raiders really needed that week off to get their house in order.
TOTAL 18-17

WEEK 2-4
Black Ownership -0- This is a Black Eye in the NFL pun intended.
