A Very American Coup By Michael – Louis Ingram, Editor-in-Chief...
Books-a-Million:The Sports Page
NORTH CAROLINA-(BASN)-With school back in full of effect, we, at Blackathlete.net, decided to select a couple of books for you and your children to read during this year with an athletic twist. So, sit back, and enjoy.
1. Flash boys by Michael Lewis
With Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West all-Black All-Star Team representing the United States in this year’s Little League World Series, they definitely can relate to this book. Because, they were definitely flashy throughout the entire tournament. Congratulations!! You made all of us so very proud.
2. Killing Jesus Bill O’Reily & Martin Dugad
With Tim Tebow not in the league, maybe all 32 teams need to read this book, including Tony Dungy, until Tebow is wearing a NFL jersey, while playing backup quarterback in the NFL.
3. 10% Happier by Dan Harris
With football season beginning this week, all men are 10% happier…..Believe me?
With his latest suspension from ESPN due to his comments about women not provoking men to violence, Stephen A. Smith might need to finger through this book based on the title only.
5. Face the Music by Paul Stanley
With all NFL teams making their final cuts and reducing their rosters to 53, a lot of players will have to “face the music” while turning in their playbooks. Therefore, I recommend this not fiction book as a replacement.
6. A Call to Action by Jimmy Carter
With the Washington, DC football owner Dan Snyder refusing to change the name of his football team, maybe Commissioner Roger Goddell needs to read this book for a little inspiration to make a “call to action.”
7. Love Life by Rob Lowe
After seeing 13-year old Mo’Ne Davis allow only 3 hits in an 8-0 shutout that sent her Philadelphia area Little League team in the Little League World Series tournament, I can honestly admit I love this life.
8. I’ve Got You Under My Skin Mary Higgins Clark
With the NFL season beginning this weekend, ESPN’s Skip Bayless will definitely be getting under someone’s skin at the debate desk on
9. It’s Beast: A Novel
Everybody is waiting to see whether Houston Texans #1 draft pick Jadeveon Clowney will live-up to the hype. If he does, this season could be a real page turner in the Lone Star State.
10. Missing You by Harlan Coben
With the injury of Sam Bradford, the St.Louis Rams quarterback will definitely be missed this season. So, while he is recovering from his injury, he can read this book while watching the game.
