Lebron James is heading back to Cleveland officially and broke his silence today in a Sports Illustrated column where he expressed his feelings towards Miami and Cleveland. Lebron had explained that he loved being in Miami but he wanted to go home to play for his hometown. Lebron looked at the experience in Miami as a college experience, meaning you leave for years but come back to get work done and thats exactly what he is doing. I had Lebron James going back to Cleveland just for the exact reasons that he expressed in his letter. James stated that he wanted to play at home and also all his business endeavors are in Cleveland plus the inner city kids. Below are some of the exact quotes from the SI exclusive letter from Lebron.

“If I had to do it all over again, I’d obviously do things differently, but I’d still have left. Miami, for me, has been almost like college for other kids. These past four years helped raise me into who I am. I became a better player and a better man. I learned from a franchise that had been where I wanted to go. I will always think of Miami as my second home. Without the experiences I had there, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing today”

“I went to Miami because of D-Wade and CB. We made sacrifices to keep UD. I loved becoming a big bro to Rio. I believed we could do something magical if we came together. And that’s exactly what we did! The hardest thing to leave is what I built with those guys. I’ve talked to some of them and will talk to others. Nothing will ever change what we accomplished. We are brothers for life”

“When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling. Our city hasn’t had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what’s most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio.”

“ I’ve met with Dan, face-to-face, man-to-man. We’ve talked it out. Everybody makes mistakes. I’ve made mistakes as well. Who am I to hold a grudge?”

“I’m not promising a championship. I know how hard that is to deliver. We’re not ready right now. No way. Of course, I want to win next year, but I’m realistic. It will be a long process, much longer than it was in 2010. My patience will get tested. I know that. I’m going into a situation with a young team and a new coach. I will be the old head. But I get a thrill out of bringing a group together and helping them reach a place they didn’t know they could go. I see myself as a mentor now and I’m excited to lead some of these talented young guys. I think I can help Kyrie Irving become one of the best point guards in our league. I think I can help elevate Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters. And I can’t wait to reunite with Anderson Varejao, one of my favorite teammates.”

Lebron saying all this just means that he has grown as a man and understands his goal and purpose to the city of Cleveland. Lebron’s decision to go back to the Cavs was because of his inner city heart and because he knows that his message would mean more to the kids from Ohio rather than Miami. When I said “Lebron is going back to Cleveland on Soul Tree Radio I said it knowing that his heart was back at home and also because he knows how important his image and word mean to Cleveland”. This will be an experience that he hasn’t endured in a couple years but if anyone can do it then he can. If you can’t respect his move back to Cleveland then you don’t understand how being a role model is honestly. Yes Dan Gilbert said those things about him but they hashed it out and put it behind them. Like Lebron said “This is bigger than basketball now” thats because he wanted to get Cleveland that championship that they have lacked during their curse.

The Cavs have not signed Andrew Wiggins yet and it was weird that Lebron didn’t mention him in his letter. A lot of speculations are that the Cavs are going to use Wiggins as a tool to get Kevin Love from the T-Wolves but the Cavs have notified Wiggins that they want to keep him on the roster. Lebron has already reached out to Ray Allen and Mike Miller about joining him in Cleveland which would really help him out on the perimeter.  The Cavs have a great list of talent and I like the fact that the Cavs still have Irving and Waiters who can really blossom with the addition of Lebron now. The Cavs and Kyrie Irving agreed to an extension for 5 years and $90 which locks him down for his prime and if you add Love to the mix this team can easily be the best for years to come.

Las Vegas has already handed the NBA championship to the Cleveland Cavs  with 3-1 odds for the upcoming season which is mind blowing. Lebron has stated that this will be a process in the making but he understands the youth and wants to grow with the roster and has said he’s committed to Cleveland.

In my humble opinion I have the Cavs winning 45+ games next year with the current roster and if they add Kevin Love I have them winning 60+. The new big 3 of James,Love,Irving  would be crazy insane and thats what the Cavs are trying to work on if they pull this off you get everything you need in those 3 plus Lebron does everything they do and more. This upcoming NBA season is going to be very special and I will be trying to attend that opening game in Cleveland for LBJ’s return.
