Bucs find starting QUARTERBACK?
NORTH CAROLINA-(BASN)-Down South, there’s a saying that, “ God is Good.”
While, in the East, there’s another saying that, “GOD is great.”
Well, in Josh MCcown’s case, who in 2010 was playing in the UFL for the Hartford Colonials, is screaming that Tampa Bay buccaneers’ new head coach Lovie Smith, is good, great, and terrific!!!
Why? Because under the leadership of Lovie Smith, who despite leading the BEARS to a 10-6 record in 2012 before being fired, announced that McCown was the new starting QB for the Bucs, and was awarded a lucrative two-year deal, worth $10 million.
How did this happen you ask?
Especially, for a no-named, 34-year old, career back-up quarterback.
Well, last year Josh, who has played for at least seven different team’s in 12-years and has thrown for 8,827 yards with 50 touchdowns and 45 interceptions in his career in the NFL, led the Chicago Bears to a m0dest 3-2 record last season after Jay Cutler was injured.
During his time under center, however, he threw for 1,829 yards, 13 TD’s, and only one interception with a 109.0 passing rating, which amazingly was the highest in the Bears’ history.
He also, amazingly, in those five game as a starter, set a record with three straight 300-yard passing game.
As a result, after putting up those impressive numbers, the BUCS’ coaching staff, came to the conclusion that he was the answer and not Mike Glennon, their third round pick from last season, who started 13 games after the team benched Josh Freeman.
With McCown being named the new starter, new head coach Lovie Smith will try to turn around the Bucs suffering franchise, who have enjoyed only four winning seasons since winning the SUPER BOWL IN 2002 , while finishing 4 and 12 last season.
