The debut of Rajon Rondo is here as he was introduced as the Celtics 15th Captain in the franchises history which means a lot. Majority of the Captains in Celtic history are in the rafters at the TD Garden. Rajon Rondo was on a minute restriction as Brad Stevens said “Rondo will play around 20 minutes”. The Celtics came out very aggressive as Kelly Olynyk was having a very huge game from the field with 25 points,7 assists and 5 rebounds as he was looking very good like the beginning of the first half of the year. The Celtics just couldn’t get it done down the stretch when they needed the big defensive stops.

Rajon Rondo was playing and appeared to have no rust which is amazing for someone coming off of a ACL tear and it is near a year from the injury. Rajon Rondo had a stat line of 8 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Rajon Rondo was going up against Kendall Marshall who has been on an assist tear lately averaging over 10 assist for the whole month of January. Marshall had 19 points and 14 assists and hit a clutch 3 pointer in the final minute of regulation that put the Lakers up 105-104 for a split moment. It was hard watching a Lakers/Celtics without Pierce or Kobe in the game but Pau Gasol had stepped up in a huge way as he had 24 points 13 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Celtics will be on the road to Orlando and Miami nd back home against the Thunder on friday.
