No Kevin Durant, No Problem OKC Beats Boston (101-83)
The Boston Celtics come back home after a great win against the Washington Wizards with Jeff Green scoring 39 points and an overall team effort. The Celtics came back home to play the Oklahoma City Thunder today and it was not what they had expected. Kevin Durant sat out tonights game with a sore shoulder and was watching his Thunder teammates beat the Celtics all night. The game consisted of great play from Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb who both were spacing the floor and having their way. The Celtics had a scare in the first half when Jared Sullinger dislocated his right index finger and was in a large amount of pain but, he managed to come back in the game and still be productive. The Celtics are still trying to find their identity now that Rondo is back in the mix and it was on full display tonight as Wallace was playing like the Wallace of the old days in the Bobcats organization. Jeremy Lamb had 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists and wasn’t stopped at all tonight.
Rondo had 5 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists in tonights game and it is clear that he is trying to get his legs back under him for the rest of the season. Rondo had some great moments in the game like in the 4th when he had split 2 defenders and faked and then put up a nice layup and fooled the whole defense. He’s had those moments showing that he has what it takes to come back stronger than ever. The Celtics are missing Bayless and Bradley so Pressey and Rondo have been running the point and both have been very impressive as Pressey is coming off his career high 20 points.
The Celtics play the Brooklyn Nets on sunday which will be a very emotional game with Pierce and KG coming back to the garden. The Celtics fans will have the tissue ready for that one and so will Paul Pierce. Rondo talks about them being his older brothers and its going to be different but still can’t wait to get this game out of the way as they both clash at 6pm Sunday night.
