The Celtics come back from the holiday break on a 3 game skid and it seems as though they have lost a lot of chemistry on the court. The Celtics got their butts handed to them by the Pacers losing 106-79. The C’s just need to stay the course until they get Rajon Rondo back from his ACL injury. The team sources have said that Rondo will be back by January/February and it seems that they like their chances with the team until he arrives from off the injury reserved list.

The Celtics and Cavs came into this game both losing their last 3 games but one of them would be more motivated to not hit the 4 game losing streak. The Celtics had a very well balanced attack in this game as Jeff Green took it into his own scoring 19 points and just his energy and his presence to attack the basket was keeping the Celtics in this game. Jeff has shown a lot of promise over the past couple of games and is trying to maintain that leadership and that aggressive role that he has shown flashes of this season.

The Celtics were the better team on the court especially with no Andrew Bynum in the lineup for the Cavs due to indefinite suspension from the team. The Cavs still had Kyrie Irving who had 32 points but his points and his flashy style weren’t enough for the Cavs to pull off this win. Kyrie has carried the Cavs but hasn’t had much help from his teammates as of late. Dion Waiters and Varejao were shut down by the Celtics defense combining for 23 points.

Anthony Bennett has been MIA for a first overall pick in the NBA Draft and hasn’t shown that Larry Johnson type game that everyone said that he had coming into the league. The Celtics looked to have the better draft pick as Kelly Olynyk had 7 rebounds in limited time.

The Celtics will take on the Atlanta Hawks on tuesday as the Hawks suffered a huge blow in losing Al Horford to torn pectoral injury the other night leaving him out indefinitely. The Celtics will have to have another balanced attack like they did today again the Cavs if they want to sustain any respect in the Eastern Conference. Coming into the game against the Cavs the Celtics were the 8th seed in the East and this is the time to show what the squad is made of especially with the growth in Sullingers game and Bradley’s.
