LeBron James and ESPN

It’s Time To Stop the Nonsense

By:- Gary Norris Gray BASN Staff Reporter

The American national sports media need the athletes to interview in order to make their shows work while the athlete need the national sports media to validate their talents on the ice, the floor, the field, or the diamond. Sometimes the two merge, sometimes the two are at odds and sometimes one takes advantage of the other. LeBron James had to deal with all of the above

Back to Back, National Basketball League Champion, LeBron James understands this clearly.

“I’m not granting interviews to three ESPN reporters from this day forward” These are the words of one of the greatest basketball players of our times. Number six of The Miami Heat LeBron James made this statement after the victory over the Western Division Champion San Antonio Spurs.

Mr. James’ reason for this statement could have been caused by the confusion and abuse he experience three years ago on the ESPN hour show called “THE DECISION”

Many Black sports fans are getting tired of how this one network continuously makes negative reports on one of the best players in the National Basketball League.

This network (ESPN) uses this racial tactic to garner ratings at the expense of African American star players in hockey, basketball, baseball, soccer, or football.

Remember ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network. A.K.A., (Disney Cooperation) The RAT, The Mouse, or The Rodent whatever you want to call it uses this system to attack Black, Latino, or any other minority professional athletes of color. They engage in character assassination without retaliation or responsibility.

There has been a constant drum beat by The Sports Leader against number 6 since The DECISION three years ago.

Remember, ESPN requested LeBron James to do a charity hour television broadcast on his decision on his basketball career whither he would stay or leave his beloved city of Cleveland, Ohio and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Did you know that LeBron James gave all the monies raised in that broadcast to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Greater Cleveland Area? Probroblity not because The Great Sports Leader never reported this event. The question should be asked WHY?

LeBron James has finally proven this year that he is a gamer; he is the best basketball player on the planet. Numbers don’t lie and Mr. James is on the road to surpass, His Airness, six time champion, Michael Jordan. LeBron won his 2nd title one year early the M.J. and he has a higher winning percentage than number 23 of the Chicago Bulls and he has more playoff victories than Michael Jordan at the same age. James does not have that nasty edge.

James led this series in points (177), assists (49) and steals (16), which no one else has ever done in a NBA Finals since Earvin “Magic” Johnson did in 1987, when he led the Los Angeles Lakers against the Boston Celtics.

At 28 years old James has Four MVP’s, two championship rings, and two Finals MVP’s. Jordan had two MVP’s, one NBA title, and one Finals MVP. Yet James does not receive the respect from the MOUSE or sports writers that Mr. Jordan received. James will obtain every basketball record if he stays healthy and in the game the next 10 years. It will happen because LeBron is physically faster, bigger, stronger, and intelligent.

Ten years ago he showed the prescience and knowledge of where the ball would be and what would happen on the court if a shot was fired. It takes years to understand the physics of basketball, James caught on early. He was Rookie of the Year in 2004.

Sports fans influence buy ESPN do not like James manly because he made his own team with the help of his friends Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh confab in Miami. These three men did it without owners, agents, or general managers.

The casual Sports fan led by the MOUSE do not like James because he took MILLIONS away from the city of Cleveland and made a super team in Miami. Jobs were lost and team pride disappeared .. WHERE ARE THE CAVALIERS NOW?, Last place the last three years, HELLO.  This team has not won 25 games since “The King” left the mid-west city.

One prominent ESPN reporter refused to call him by his name. Skip Bayless of the ESPN show “First Take” called LeBron James, Prince, instead of King. This is another example of an older white male disrespecting a black man and attempting to make it a joke. IT’S NOT FUNNY!!!

Think about this, owner Dan Gilbert of the Cleveland Cavaliers could have traded LeBron James to any team in the NBA the year before he went to Miami. Not a word would have been spoken, not a single brown and gold 23 jersey would have been burned in the streets of Cleveland, not a single LeBron James poster torn down. Cavalier fans would have stated that it was business and Cleveland basketball fans would have moved on.

This is what the Boston Celtics did 6 years earlier when they acquired Ray Allen from the Seattle Seahawks and Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves to join Paul Pierce at TD Gardens. They won the Championship in 2008 and not a word was spoken.

LeBron (A STRONG BLACK MAN ) took control of his destiny and his life. The city of Cleveland lost their collective minds and vented on the man that made the city famous. The man that made the city millions of dollars but it did not matter LeBron James became the son of Satan, even-though he took a subpar team of no-names on his back to The Eastern Conference Finals five times.

ESPN used LeBron James in their hour DECISION show three years ago to win the ratings war.  The show captured the nation, the nation hung onto every word the young man said. It backfired on The Great Sports Leader because Mr. James told the world he was headed to South Beach and the Miami Heat. Then ESPN with their sports wisdom wanted revenge turning their collective guns on number six and made him public enemy number one.

They don’t like James because he is a liberated young black man and that’s a threat to the suits in the sports executive offices of America. Mr. James could be the new hero for young black men. James clearly illustrates how to be a strong man in his believes and in his dreams. That’s why people HATE James, he stands up to criticisms and prove that people can be mistaken.

What the media in Bristol, Connecticut stated about LeBron James and other African American athletes, it is a race issue, it is a BLACK thing. The majority of the media are middle class white males who are writers do not like LeBron James. Manly because they can’t perform on the court and they cannot garner his salary. Jealousy is a very ugly green animal and that is where we are with LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

The American sports media machine cannot portray a STRONG BLACK MAN in a positive light .This would be bad for business. There would be no controversy.

Right after the Heat raised the championship trophy on Thursday night these same media blood hounds started asking can Miami Three Peat? The next question could they keep The New South Beach Three Amigos together another year? Please, out of respect, could reporters wait a day or two before to ask that questions?

Yes, The Miami Heat won BACK TO BACK TITLES. LeBron James will be in the history books forever and nobody can take that away. There are only six teams in the NBA that have accomplished this fete.

Like I said before, Don’t get it twisted, I love the San Antonio Spurs but the Miami Heat with The KING, LeBron James, are Bad Mama Jamas as my father would say.

You are delusional. ESPN is obsessed with Lebron James. Every news segment has Lebron first and foremost. Everything he does, no matter wrong or right, is portrayed as the next greatest thing. There is nothing racist in speaking negatively about Lebron. Your argument loses all credibility when the same people you speak of are claiming other great black athletes as better than Lebron. Fact of the matter is, Lebron might be the best player right now (arguable – let’s be honest here) but he constantly reports to flopping, whining, and constant preferential treatment from the refs. Stern uses Lebron as the poster child of the NBA. And this summer it will be revealed that he’s been using steroids and the NBA and David Stern will face serious backlash. I’m not making this up, I have several sources who worked at the Biogenesis clinic Lebron purchased his PEDs from, and they’ve told me they will all be released very shortly. Fact is, Lebron is a fraud and the hate he receives has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin. The fact that you write otherwise is deplorable at best and race mongering at worst.

thank you for reading the article Alex but before this week ESPN made it was their sworn duty to undermine everything and anything Mr. James did., what was that Hour show about.. and why can’t Mr. Bayless call him by his correct name or at least Mr. James? when you disrespect anybody you are dis-respecting yourself and ESPN has been doing this for many, many, many, years. Yes, they changed this week because the Heat won BACK to BACK title and they would look stupid criticizing Mr. James. Now ESPN needs Mr. James to sell their programming and their basketball shows. come on my brother wake up and smell the roses. The Monster in the sports room is ESPN and its eating everything in sight.

Skip Bayless is a hack, I couldn’t agree more with you on that. I just don’t think racism is behind it, maybe I’m naive, and I don’t doubt for a second that there are elements of racism in sports on many levels unfortunately. As a Michael Vick fan I witnessed it throughout his trial while Ben Rothelsberger got no recognition for allegedly raping two women. I just don’t see the lebron link, ESPN has been loving him for the past two years.

Dont get me started about the Vick case last week ESPN did a story on one of his dogs he owned died natural causes … what does that have to do with sports .. that is racism my brother because they dont want you to forget about his Dog Fighting trail. While the New England Pats cheat with spy gate and ESPN does not want to even mention this WHY???? THINK my brother THINK

Alex, stop lying. You don’t have any sources except your imagination. You hope Lebron is on that Peds list. And why do you think that? Because Biogensis is in Miami. Not only are YOU delusional, but you’re stupid too>

why does espn show lebron with a crown on his head 50 times a week ? espn, stern & nike are all in bed with lebron! espn reports baseball players on peds on a daily basis, reports other players using rec. drugs yet NOT ONE WORD on lebron, why is that? because they want to protect him. google”lebron james steriods” and you will fing 579,000 hits, yet none from espn.now that they are negotiating a new contract (nba & espn) the last thing they want is a lebron on peds scandal. also search him smoking weed in the club or cheating on his girlfriend and you can find out what he’s been upto this off season, but again espn doesn’t want you to see anything negative about their poster boy…please try to fool someone else but the way alot of people see it is espn loves lebron and will do anything to hype him. heck even stern allowed rule change in the middle of 2009 season so his “crab dribble” could be legalized.

“google Lebron James steroids and you get 579,000 hits” Well that makes it true! Search him smoking weed in a club? *Sigh* In an age where everyone has a phone/camera in their hand, not one single pic of James smoking weed out in public on the internet. You are an idiot. Hey Einstein, maybe Espn doesn’t report on these things cause there’s no proof.

so Randy do you believe everything you read on the internet? do you believe in everything ESPN tells you? If so your a fool.open up your mind and your behind will follow as George Clinton said back in the day of P-FUNK.. I’m trying to teach African American History … ESPN is not. I’m trying to teach Black heroes ESPN is not… they don’t care about LeBron James, only to sell their ads and their network … just let number six mess up outside of the court and see what ESPN will report. Does Mike Vick ring a bell, does Tiger Woods ring a bell, Does A-Rod ring a bell come on my brother when are you going to wake up and smell the coffee. ESPN only abuse and use African American athletes and thats why we are here to write a different story… thanks for reading the article my brother PEACE BE UPON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
