Geno Smith Is Like All The Rest . . . .
Pro Football Weekly’s Nick Nowrocki has produced yet another extremely tainted scouting report. In it he’s painting yet another Black Signal Caller to be mentally and emotionally deficient, and his calculated choice of terms and words . . . sounds n’ taste a hell-of-a- lot like an Ole Miss’ scout evaluating a Black QB in 1957.
The evaluation’ s tone n’ texture sounds a great deal like a Republican TEA Party or FOX News assessment of President Obama. Bias beyond belief.
This time his target is West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, and Nowrocki’s assessment has done more-than merely raise eyebrows throughout the pigskin-lined world, it’s ignited a blue-flame under the behinds of many.
The evaluation has a feel n’ flavor which can only be characterized as an unyielding and relentless “undressing” – which did more than evaluate Smith – it questioned the Quarterback’s values, work-ethic and love for the game.
And Nowrocki has never met nor spoken to Geno Smith.
One might call it a gridiron lynching . . . .
“[Was] often out of sync with receivers. Average field vision and coverage recognition — forces throws and does not work through progressions. … Not a student of the game. Nonchalant field presence — does not command respect from teammates and cannot inspire. Cannot handle hard coaching. Mild practice demeanor — no urgency. Not committed or focused — marginal work ethic. Interviewed poorly at the Combine and did not show an understanding of concepts on the white board. Opted not to compete at the Senior Bowl and has approached offseason training as if he has already arrived.”
“A cross between Akili Smith and Aaron Brooks, Smith is a gimmick, overhyped product of the system lacking the football savvy, work habits and focus to cement a starting job and could drain energy from a QB room. Will be overdrafted and struggle to produce against NFL defensive complexities.
Call it a “castration . . . ”
As a senior Geno completed 70% of his passes, threw over 500 times for 42 TD’s and only 6 interceptions. Smith went 7 games without a pick. And he’s not focused ? Over his collegiate career Mr. Smith threw for 98 TDs – over 11,000 yards – and only threw 21 INTs. Need I add, you can’t count the records he broke and set.
Forgive me, but I don’t see that as being “out of touch with his Receivers.” Nor do I see those numbers reflecting a guy who’s not a “student of the game.”
Of course Geno and those who’ve coached and played with him have stepped-up to call Nowrocki a liar, but is that all he is?
It seems to me the goal of Mr. Nowrocki and the operation which employs him, Pro Football Weekly, to deliberately and intentionally deprive young Mr. Smith of a career as a NFL Field General. What else can a critique like Nowrocki’s do but derail a career, cause a player’s value to plummet?
It’s too-bad these self-proclaimed aficionados of the game can’t be sued for libel, because the kid may very-well drop in the draft and thus receive less monies – based on Pro-Football Weekly’s summation..
What I find appalling is; in translating Nowrocki’s Rednecklish code – it appears what he’s saying is – “the boy is lazy, not driven, not too bright, scatterbrained, can’t inspire nor lead men into battle” . . . go-on-down the list. There’s a distinct, evident “theme” in his analysis of Black Field Generals..
Gee, you tell me but that’s exactly the verbiage used from 1920 to . . . right here n’ now in explaining why Black men can’t play Quarterback in the NFL. All Nolan is doing is putting a wig and fake eyelashes on a wart-hog with his wording. I well understand the writer’s job is to analyze Xs and Os but to rely on using figurative racial tropes when describing a players overall makeup and personality is over-the-top.
I guess we Blacks have racial traits and characteristics that Nowrocki seems to be especially keen-to and in-tune with . . . he can spot a “lazy shiftless one” every time.
And to his discredit Nolan appears to only, and purposefully compare n’ contrast Black Quarterbacks with other Black quarterbacks . . . since we’re all the same. Newton can be compared to Ben Roethlisberger, Tim Crouch or Jay Cutler . . . but not Jamarcus Russell, unless you can’t see through the slits in your White-hood.
Unless you can’t tell one “Nigger from the next . . . .”
Is it a coincident that Pro Football Weekly’s most recognizable writer see’s Black quarterbacks just as most White men have and continue-to see most Black people? It’s as if the White male sportsfan population has amnesia and has conveniently forgotten the history of the Black Quarterback in the NFL.
Via racism he was strategically excluded.
Only Doug Williams has won the big one – because Black men have been forbidden from playing the position. There’s no other reason.
Now let me ask this one; Why have we not seen a White guy lead the league in rushing? Peyton Hillis, Danny Woodhead? Someone please explain to me why we no-longer see Paul Hornung’s or Ed Poldalacks? There’s no Black owner or head coach refusing to play them – it’s that they (White men) don’t have the mental and physical skills to compete – the same can’t be said of the Black QB – the numbers are pathetic because there’s been an unspoken but official ban on Black Signal Callers.
But we can’t discuss that on ESPN, SI, NFL.com, Yahoo nor Bleachers Report – White men don’t have the gumption to discuss their rigging/fixing. . . excluding of the best players in the gridiron game.
Please, in Black barbershops and sports bars across America it’s a given fact, a given fact I say – if America hadn’t had its own form of Apartheid – separate n’ unequal everything – then the sports Hall-Of-Fames would be all but void of White guys. The Babe, Slingin’ Sammy Baugh, Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb, go-on-down the sanctified list and these guys, if not for segregation, might not have even made the team, and you know I’m not lying.
Is there a White guy somewhere in these no-longer United States of America whom begs to differ – Whites prospered in sports based on the exclusion of Blacks!
Might I extend that to all facets of life in America.
Oddly, well not so-oddly when you think about it . . . Pro-Football Weekly employes no Afro-Americans as writers, nonetheless covers a sport which is predominated and dominated by Black men. I guess like most publications . . . they can’t find anyone “qualified’ or “good enough.”
And as Rand Paul would say, “so what – they don’t have to.”
Nawrocki tried to character- assassinate Cam Newton for his on/off-field attitude and “fake smile” two years-ago, the last time anyone heard-of or spoke-of him.. And all Cam’s done is improve the Panthers offense, the teams record – and we all know the team made few, if any bold moves to add talent. Newton carried-the-team on his shoulders, and the disgruntled White fans and writers complained that he didn’t handle losing well, sulked and put a towel over his head.
And had Cam behaved like the Patriot’s Great White Hope/Dope Rob Gronkowski, “got- down and partied” after losing . . . good lord, what would have the court-of White public opinion said – we all shudder to think the raking-over-the-coals Newton would have received if losing didn’t bother him.
Can we agree Nolan Nowrocki, and Pro Football Weekly have an “agenda” and it belongs-to, represents and speaks-for angry, paranoid, envious and insecure White guys?
