Rondo Out For Season Torn ACL (So What Do The Celtics Do Now????)
The Boston Celtics have had a crazy month of January they started out on a 6 game winning streak and than they went on a 6 game losing streak. Just when any worse can happen it has officially happened the Celtics have lost their playmaker/leader Rajon Rondo for the season due to a torn ACL in his right leg. Rondo had injured his ACL late in the Atlanta Hawks game even though he has still played in the double overtime lose. Coming into the game on sunday against the Miami Heat everyone was looking at the storyline being about the return of Ray Allen back to Boston no one expected Rondo to go down. Coming into the game the Celtics medical staff said that “Rondo had an hyperextended knee and was limited at the teams practice run”. During the game many Celtics beat writers were reporting that Rondo had an ACL tear and when the Celtics twitter account had reported it every Celtic fan that read that tweet was stunned and shocked.
With Rondo out for the season it means that the Celtics will have to go to someone in the locker room that is going to step up like Lee or Bradley with bringing up the ball. The Celtics faithful have already been wanting changes as many believe that the Celtics need a big man but, now with Rondo out they need a big man and an point guard that can fil the void. The Free Agent Market is slim with Fisher,Bibby, and Delonte West out their available but, we could definitely use the veteran help ASAP. The Celtics are ranked 8th in the eastern conference right now and would need a major boost from the bench to try to keep this going. Rondo being out the line up takes away the leagues number 1 point guard and the Celtics best play maker.
My only hope is that the Celtics can use this to motivate themselves and take beating the Heat in double overtime as a building block. Lebron had 34 points but the Celtics had Paul Pierce and his game winning jumper but, it looked like the Celtics gave their all in this moral victory and going forward they need to find the missing piece to this puzzle of a season and only time will tell. The Celtics face Sacramento on wednesday and the journey without Rajon Rondo begins. With Rondo being out for the year maybe Paul Pierce can get the nod for his replacement in the All Star Game and it will also put a big chance on Irving being the starting PG. But for any Celtics fan this is terrible news to the ears and eyes we will have to see what Danny Ainge does now.
