Venus and Serena Williams

OAKLAND, CA.—The American women’s tennis and golf federation should ask Mr. Richard Williams how he trained not one champion, but two. These Champions did not go to tennis school.

Much like the Korean golfers and the Chinese tennis players, Mr. Williams trained his young daughters to respect and trained them to respect the game and their opponent. Practice every day, study your opponent, and keep at it until you win.

Think about this, in 2011 the Williams sisters have won more Wimbledon titles than the whole field. Serena won the All England Classic last year and was the last American female to win a Major. The highest ranking American under the age of 23 is Christina McHale at number 74. The last non-Williams to win a Major is Jennifer Capriati in The 2002 U.S. Open.

In 2009 Mary Jo Fernandez was appointed the new Captain of the Fed American team. Fernandez took the position from Zina Garrison who was released by the Federation. Mary Jo did not invite the Williams sisters and the team lost every match of the Fed Cup last year.

This the lowest point of American tennis. Somebody should be knocking on Mr. William’s door, but as my friend Cowboy Reggie would say, “I digress”.

This is something the Americans in golf and tennis are missing and will continue to lose if they don’t change their training habits and ask for assistance.

Look out sports world the Asian tennis and golf champions are coming and are coming from Seoul and Beijing .
