Will the Melo chase bare fruit or thorns?

NEW YORK (BASN) — Will the on again and off again Carmelo Anthony saga ever end with the Knicks on the positive side?

And that positive side be with or without him as a New York Knick. Some people might question, how in the world could that be a positive if he’s not on the Knicks and subsequently takes his talents over to the Jersey/Brooklyn side?

Well, easy. Can the Knicks build a true winner with just Amare’ Stoudemire as the only mega star? Well the answer to that is, take long look at the San Antonio Spurs.

Yes, the San Antonio Spurs. Sure they have Mano Ginobili and Tony Parker, guys that have ventured an All-star or two but put them on a BAD team and they wouldn’t make the team THAT much better.

But, if you were to put a Tim Duncan even on the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Los Angeles Clippers, he would instantly make them better. Ginobili and Parker would no doubt be great players but would they be able to make other player’s around them better in the same fashion that Duncan can.

And for another example look at the current state of the Phoenix Suns sans Amare’. It almost looks as if Steve Nash need Amare’ more that Amare’ needs Nash.

Not only are the Knicks benefiting from have Amare’ but the new point guard, Ray Felton is having an All-star type of season. Sure Felton was good while with the Charlotte Bobcats, but he wasn’t as superior as he is now.

To that end, would the Knicks be better off with developing (at a high rate of course) the young guys: Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari and Landry Fields?

It’s not as if they are wishful thinking in their development ala Derrick Favors, Anthony Randolph or some of the other young players that haven’t so much as posted consistent double figures in scoring or rebounding in 2 or 3 straight games.

The trio at MSG is making strides of an uncanny sort so much so that if this Melo situation never existed the only thing the Knicks would be worried about would be indeed a center and a backup point guard.

Is there a Marcus Camby or Luke Ridnour and a Jared Jeffries in the house?
