JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson State University has renewed the contracts of its assistant football coaches. All full-time members of the staff have extensions through the 2011 season. JSU head football coach Rick Comegy, who has one year remaining on his existing contract, will not receive a multi-year extension on his contract. “We have renewed the contracts of all of the assistant coaches on staff,” said JSU Director of Athletics Robert L. Braddy, Sr. “We will honor head coach Rick Comegy’s current contract. At the end of each season we evaluate the football program and some goals were met and some were not.” “I felt that it was best to honor the current contract and reevaluate everything again at the end of the 2011 season, before committing the university to a long-term contract. We have confidence in coach Comegy and his staff.” “I am extremely pleased that the University has renewed the assistant coaches’ contracts,” said Comegy.

“However, I am disappointed that I did not receive an extension.” “I am a team player and I respect the University’s decision. I will continue to do the things that we need to do to make Jackson State dominant in football. The Tigers football team posted an 8-3 overall record and a 6-3 SWAC mark.
