CONNECTICUT (BASN) — Here are my top five contenders for this year’s Heisman Trophy after last weekend’s games.

1. Auburn QB Cam Newton: It’s still his to lose.
2. Oregon RB LaMichael James: The best player on the nation’s best team.
3. Stanford QB Andrew Luck: The signal caller had a great game (235 passing yards, two TD’s) against Cal.
4. Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon: He had another strong effort (10 catches, 130 yards, TD) against Kansas.
5. UConn RB Jordan Todman: Maybe the best runner in the country (238 carries, 1,306 yards, 11 TD’s) on a team that could be BCS bound.
