SEATTLE (BASN) — The MLS Playoffs are upon us and the Seattle Sounders are ready for battle.

Now granted their last outing against the Houston Dynamo last week wasn’t one of the better performances of the year and 2-1 defeat is something that they are quickly putting behind them.

“It was a tough game for us and we got off to a good start. It was a game that didn’t have much meaning for either team,” said Sounders FC Defender, Patrick Ianni.

“We have already clinched a playoff spot and Houston is already out,” he added.

“For us now, the focus is on playoffs, preparation and getting our bodies right and getting our game plan together,” Coach Sigi Schmid said.

The Seattle Sounders FC has been the one of the hottest team in the league during the second half of the season.

Even with the plethora of injuries that have plagued this team throughout the season, they’ve managed to put together a few respectable winning streaks this season and have gotten field support from every member of the team.

For the Sounders FC to be successful during the playoffs it’s going to take a 100% effort from each player. The Sounders FC will match up against the L.A. Galaxy on Sunday at home on XBOX Field.

“We’re excited about playing the Galaxy. They are a team obviously this season that we didn’t enjoy any success against. But for us it presents a great opportunity,” said Coach Schmid.

“I’m excited for our fans. [David] Beckham wasn’t here with them the last time so they get a chance to see Beckham play and a chance again to see Landon [Donovan] and those guys.”

“For us, the exciting part is being in the playoffs,” he added.

The Sounders FC will have plenty of motivation playing against the Galaxy.

They were beaten by them twice, once at home and the other on the road. They were able to turn all of that around during the Open Cup and beat them to bring home the cup.

“We’ve got a chance to go up against the Supporters’ Shield winner and if you want to win a championship you are going to have to beat a team like that eventually,” Coach Schmid added.

The Sounders FC have overcome so many obstacles this season and in the process have developed into a solid group of athletes. Osvaldo Alonso and Nathan Sturgis will control the midfield.

Steve Zakuani is going be a “situation” along with the emergence of Sanna Nyassi who has had break out performance this year. I also see Blaise Nkufo as being the difference maker in the match.

The Seattle Sounders FC have done everything right this season to put themselves in this position and now it’s time to go on another winning streak.
