A Huge Net Gain

NORTH CAROLINA (BASN) — In his quest to become a billionaire, will LeBron James join the 39th richest man in the world, and lead the New Jersey Nets to the NBA Championship?

Their new owner, Mikhail Prokhorov, has invested $200 million in exchange for an 80 percent stake in the basketball team and 45 percent stake in the Barclay Center due to be built in Brooklyn as the future home of the Nets.

Prokhorov has said that under his leadership the New Jersey Nets will go to the playoffs next year and win a NBA title within five.

Now, that’s a bold prediction coming from a man whose newly required Nets team won only 12 games out of 82 last season.

But despite the Nets’ 70 losses last season, Prokhorov, the 6-foot-7 Russian billionaire, claims he is going to turn all New York Knicks fans into New Jersey Nets fans.

Now, that’s a little hard to believe.

Because, I seriously doubt movie director Spike Lee will be jumping on the New Jersey Nets bandwagon even with their potential move to Brooklyn.

But if you add LeBron James on the Nets alongside guards Devin Harris and Courtney Lee as well as center Brook Lopez plus Georgia Tech’s Derrick Favors as their potential draft pick in 2010 NBA Draft, anything is possible.

Now with that lineup, I must admit, I might even throw up the dynasty sign.
