DENVER (BASN) — A few week back, it was McNabb and T.O., reunited in the Bay, as R-a-i-d-e-r-s . . . with Peaches n’ Herb blowing in the background.

And now, its No. 5 and T.O. together again as Savages, reunited in D.C.

I think if Mike Shanahan makes this happen, gives this potentially dynamic duo another chance at grid iron immortality . . . the little brilliant leprechaun’s name will be mentioned with Lamar Hunt and Branch Rickey, John Browns of the gridiron . . . because he’ll be the guy who made it happen, who placed a Black man at the helm of a Super Bowl Champion team.

Let’s face it; they’re those in the NFL and the press corp which covers the league, who’d like to declare the Black Quarterback . . . dead, the, dig this – experiment ended.

Some writer from CBS sports steps-up to the podium and merely says this name . . .

JaMarcuss Russell – and that’s it. The next day all Black NFL QBs are moved to more appropriate non-thinking positions.

And this stuff is not suppose to be insulting?

My wordsmith brethren at FOX Sports, ESPN, AOL and Yahoo, and even the little big guys like Bleachers Report, so , so many are full of dislike and contempt for the Black gladiator, and specifically the Black signal caller – so much so it drips and seeps out, through their lines and paragraphs.

But, like their Tea-Bagger cousins, they maintain some front, some standard verbal utterances of ” I don’t see color, honestly,” you know, the “I didn’t know you were Black to you just mentioned it, pointed it out to me – the color of these players is a non-issue in our reporting and commentary. . . .”

There’s a river called Denial, and it runs right through Redneck Land.

You may not dig this , but dig this ; What’s a non-issue are the issues they, the established sports press – make non issues, when they really are in-fact issues, important vital issues which desperately warrant addressing . . . if we want to avoid another civil/racial war.

Yeah, that’s right, they don’t report race in a realistic manner, and when they do report on it . . . it’s mis-reported, intentionally most times, strategically some times – in an gross effort to elevated and inflate the White guy, while yes of course – “keep the Black man down.”

As if, as if we ain’t doing enough ourselves to keep our own asses down. We don’t need no help, no piling on. But that is today the role of the sports press; no longer are writers and reporters bro-mancing cheer-leading buddies, male admirers in puppy luv with their hero, the player Micky Mantle.

No, today it’s the scorned male-lover syndrome at play. The envious, former bench warmer behind a brother, now the bitter investigative sports reporter . . . Dick “flippin” Tracy with a Tea Party membership card and a keyboard. Well one more time, just for impact . . . no longer are writers and reporters bro-mancing cheer-leading buddies, male admirers in puppy luv with their hero, the player, Micky Mantle.

No, today it’s the scorned male-lover syndrome at play. The envious, former bench warmer behind a brother, now the bitter investigative sports reporter . . . Dick “flippin” Tracy with a Tea Party membership card and a keyboard.

Ain’t this all a bitch . . . ?

I want McNabb to have another chance at the Lombardi Trophy, so, with a guy like the little genius, Mr. Shanahan it’s workable, doable even. Shanny (Think KC Head Coach Hank Stram . . . on crack, with a Tobago tan and minus “the little Generals” flair for cool colorful 1965 men’s attire. Sports-Jackets and pocket squares) believes in a ground game and Mike believes in utilizing his Tight End/H-Back.

Recall TD n’ Sharp. Running the ball down your opponents throat is required if you wan’t to win it all in Mike’s mind. You can win in other forms and fashions, but overall, the ability to make a block here, and a block here, create a lane, an ally, an run that ball down-hill all-night . . . is an element Andy Reid didn’t really understand nor incorporate into any game-plan McNabb was ever handed.

You can’t put 8 in da’ box to stop the mid-nite express, and account for TO, Cooley and the boys in the band. McNabb will turn your ass into burnt marshmallows, all sticky and goo-ey. It won’t be pretty.

No. 5′s first decade in the NFL has been superior to Elway’s first decade. McNabb’s the better athlete, better passer and clearly better runner . . . no? Donovan is Shanny’s wet dream, dipped in chocolate and come to life, he can still break a defense with his legs . . .

He’s long ago proved to the angry White male sportswriter and fan – he can dissect you via the air, with his mind and arm, as opposed to running around like a jigaboo chasing his Sunday evening Chicken dinner . . . .

That is typical suburban/rural sports-bar humor, no boys?

Now, let’s let McNabb have a committed run-game, an-air attack, a true arsenal, and he’ll illustrate . . . in vivid glorious technicolor, what a quote, unquote “Black field general” can orchestrate with an offensive scheme constructed to utilize and exploit his capabilities instead of harness them, alter, restrain his abilities, make him conform to the Johnny U model.

It’s all wishful Redneck whims – return to yesteryear, to an outdated make n’ model, from a by-gone segregated era, long ago . . . when the best competition, the best sportsmen were exclude, barred from participating.

Vick ought to follow McNabb to D.C., because this is the type of ideal situation an athletic QB can grow into and thrive in.

Sit behind Donny for two more years, get some playing time . . . then . .

. take the helm at 30 and thrive for the next five years.

But yes, Shanahan can help destroy a lingering myth; the ass whippin’ Doug Williams put on Elway and the boys was a one time fluke. In other, more sharp n’ blunt words – Black men aren’t cable of winning it all .

We don’t have the cerebral abilities to lead men, read complex defensive sets, dissect our opponents weakness and tendencies, manage the clock . . . much too much for adult children . . . .

No, I believe, McNabb, if provided with the tools to work with, and the adult toys to play with . . . TO, Portis, LJ, Cooley, Fast-Ass Willie Parker, combined with the fair shot Mike will give McNabb, the same one he gave Elway – he’ll give to No. 5.

That fairness, that sameness of opportunity will silence angry white men for years to come . . . .

Thank you Shanny. This man should be awarded an NAACP Image Award, and a EPSY, maybe even a Nobel . . . .

Just a thought gentlemen, and ladies, just a thought.
