In Need Of Some Home Cooking
SEATTLE (BASN) — The Seattle Sounders FC are glad to be back home after a brutal road trip against FC Dallas and Toronto FC.
They’re currently holding down third place in the MLS Western Conference and the upcoming home game against the Columbus Crew is very important.
“It was a tough road trip from the standpoint of having to play two games that close together, both of them on the road. But it’s something we will hopefully face later in the year as well with the CONCACAF Champions League, stated Coach Sigi Schmid.
“We changed the lineup around a little bit but I thought in Dallas we had three points and a bad call at the end of the game cost us that and in Toronto I thought we played well but we made a couple of mistakes which are uncharacteristic of our defense,” he added.
There was something in the air this week and practice has been intense.
A lot of attention has been given to the little things and many of the players stayed on the field a little longer taking extra shots and working one on one with Coach Schmid.
You can see the look of determination on the faces of the players and Coach Schmid isn’t wasting any words regarding what he expects from them.
“We know exactly what we are capable of doing and the expectations that we have for ourselves is much greater than anything outside of this lockeroom,” stated Forward Steve Zakuani.
Everyone is disappointed about the outcome of the road trip and we are looking forward to being home on Saturday.
“We always want to win at home and if we can get these next two games and win these next two games at home, it does a lot of things for us,” said Coach Schmid.
“It gets us six points which is the most important thing. We are also playing two of the better teams in MLS so it gives us confidence from that regard, as well and it allows us to measure ourselves in these next two games against two of the better squads,” he continued.”
On Saturday, there just might be a few changes made to the starting lineup again or frequent substitutions but the one thing that you can count on is that the Seattle Sounders FC will come out of the tunnel fired up and ready to go.
