Opening The Curtain in Seattle

SEATTLE (BASN) — Major League Soccer and the MLS Players Union were able to avoid a strike and the 2010 season got started late Thursday night as the Seattle Sounders FC hosted the Philadelphia Union.

I’m just as excited as many of the fans across the league.

The Seattle Sounders FC have sold out the opening day match and their Band is tuned up and ready to take the field.

There will be a sea of green Seattle FC Scarves blowing in the wind.

The momentum is building already amongst the players and Midfielder Brad Evans has got his game face on now.

“We just had an intense 90 minute inter squad match at Qwest Field and it really felt good,” stated Brad.

“I’m not sure where I’ll be playing at the moment but I’ll be ready,” he added. One of the concerns during the preseason was a lack of scoring by the Sounders FC but it appears that they’ve worked it all out now.

“Sure we aware what has been said regarding that but those that play and live soccer understand that there’s a big difference when the season starts,” stated forward Fredy Montero.

At times there appeared to be some miscommunication between Fredy and Midfielder Freddie Ljungberb that resulted in failed scoring opportunities.

“No that’s not the case at all, Freddie is a very intelligent player and a very valuable part of this team,” said Fredy.

“I look forward to winning a few championships with him,” he continued.

Fredy is most comfortable playing the forward position and is always a threat in the box.

“My conditioning has allowed me to be effective anywhere on the field that I’m assigned and as a member of this team I just go out and play to the best of my ability.

Forward Steve Zakuani has the most work to do in preparing for the season opener.

He’s not a superstitious person or anything but there’s a routine that must be followed.

Steve is collaborating with his barber at this time and they have come up with a special design that will be cut in his hair.

“I’m just ready to get out there in front of our fans,” Osvaldo Alonso echoed and that’s the sentiment for many of the players.

“We’ve got to put pressure on them from the beginning and I feel that our experience will be the deciding factor,” Evans mentioned.
