Not A Pretty Picture

But it’s time for them to get their swagger back

I know, the Southwestern Athletic Conference which is better known as the SWAC is considered a football conference with schools like Grambling State, Jackson State, and Southern, but the basketball programs are simply pathetic.
But pathetic is too nice a word. They are horrible. Why do I say this? Entering Monday night’s action, there are three teams in the SWAC that have a combined record of 4-39.

Oh, yeah!! For example: Arkansas-Pine Bluff is 2-11 overall, Mississippi Valley State is 2-13 (1-1 SWAC), and Alcorn State is 0-15 (0-2).

Jackson State (4-10) and Southern University (3-12) aren’t any better. They both boast a 2-10 non-conference record.
Now that conference play has begun, some these teams have gotten a couple of wins. Currently, league-leading Prairie View A&M is 3-0 (8-6 overall) with JSU and Pine-Bluff right behind at 2-0 in the league.

These schools seem to be the best the SWAC has to offer this year in hoops. With this said, the No. 1 Texas Longhorns may have already found their first round opponent in March.
