CONNECTICUT (BASN) — Here are my top five contenders for this year’s Heisman Trophy after last weekend’s games.

QB Tim Tebow, Florida: He is certainly the best quarterback in the country injured or not injured and is playing for the best team in the country. His extra effort against Tennessee on the game winning touchdown was phenomenal. Can he win it again? 2.

RB Jahvid Best , California: This running back has helped turn California into a national power. They are now a perennial top 10 team after being a cellar dweller in the past. He has lighting speed and great moves.

QB Jacory Harris, Miami: This sophomore quarterback has adjusted very well to offensive coordinator to Mark Whipple’s system. He can throw it short and throw it long. He deserves consideration.

WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State: Bryant is probably the top receiver in the country as a junior. Expect him to opt for the NFL at the end of the season.

QB Tony Pike, Cincinnati: Pike is one of the reasons that his team may end up playing for the National Championship. He had a phenomenal game in a blowout of favorite Rutgers in week one. Last year he was far down on the depth chart and now he may be one of the top three quarterbacks in the country.
