Coach Sumlin will discuss the spring football game as well as what Cougars fans can expect from the team during the 2009 Houston Cougars football season.
Tickets for the event are $40 each or you can reserve a table for $400.00. This event will start a series of stops for Coach Sumlin as he prepares to begin his Texas Summer Road Tour.
Coach Sumlin will travel to four cities in the state of Texas during the month of June. He will kickoff the tour with an event at the Texas Star Golf course and Conference Centre in Euless, Texas on June 1st.
It will be a part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Alumni Club Golf Tournament.
In addition to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Coach Sumlin is scheduled to visit Austin (June 16th), San Antonio (June 17th) and Beaumont (June 25th).
The Kevin Sumlin Texas Summer Road Tour is sponsored by the University of Houston Athletics Department and Cougar Pride in conjunction with the University of Houston Alumni Association.
Sumlin begins his second season at Houston in 2009 after a record-setting 2008 campaign. In his first year as head coach, he guided the Cougars to an 8-5 overall record, including a 34-28 win against Air Force during the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.
It was the program’s first bowl victory since 1980.
Coach Sumlin was one of only 10 first-year Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches to guide his team to a bowl game and was one of only six to win a bowl.
With eight wins, he also established a school record by a first-year head coach.
Under his leadership, the Cougars established 22 season and career records and ranked second nationallly in both total offense and passing yards per game.
