SIAC Announces 2009 Baseball Honors

TUCKER, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Baseball Coaches Association have announced their 2009 Baseball All Conference, All Academic Team and Superlative awards.

Benedict College Head Coach Derrick Johnson took home the honors of Coach of the Year after leading his team to an Eastern Division second place finish in the Regular Season in the SIAC.

Shortstop Brandon Marcus of Albany State was named Player of the Year after leading his team to a first place finish atop of the Eastern Division of the SIAC and the SIAC Freshman of the Year is Christopher Moye of Benedict College.

All athletes and coaches were recognized at the SIAC Baseball Championship Banquet held at the Albany Civic Center in Albany, GA.
